On behalf of me, and everyone at WikiProject Gastropods, for your outstanding CSVLoader, and excellent support thereof, we gratefully present to you this spanking barnstar. Anna Frodesiak ( talk) 04:14, 25 February 2010 (UTC) |
Just out of curiosity, when was it first available for use? Anna Frodesiak ( talk) 12:27, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Just wondering how long the strings can be. Can I circumvent problems explained in the Notes here by producing something like this:
##binominal##;##auth##;##genusabbrev##;##name##;##locality##
Julia exquisita;Gould, 1862;J;exquisita;The type locality for this species is [[Australia]]
Julia japonica;Kuroda & Habe, 1951;J;japonica;The type locality for this species is [[Japan]]

Julia mishimaensis;Kawaguti & Yamasu, 1982;J;mishimaensis;The type locality for this species is Canada.
Anna Frodesiak ( talk) 13:45, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Would you like me to add a link to CSVLoader in the edit summary of newly created articles? Anna Frodesiak ( talk) 07:17, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
I saw your sample. It looks fantastic. Just so that I'm clear, we can, by adding the template, automatically make a reference to the appropriate WoRMS page for each new Conus article. Is that right?
You wrote on my talk page that you made two template pages. Only one seems to exist.
You wrote that you would bring this to the attention of everyone on the Project Gastropod talk page. I don't see it there. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak ( talk) 03:09, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Conus jaspideus, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Conus algoensis. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot ( talk) 16:57, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Oooops, I am sorry, I see one more thing that I will have to ask you to use AWB to fix. In all of the species articles for species within the family Conidae, including the Conus set as well as the new Bela stubs and any other stubs in the Conidae that the bot has made so far, the intro sentence currently says [my emphasis],
"a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Conidae, the cone snails, cone shells or cones."
This is actually an out-of-date statement. It needs to say
"a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Conidae, the cone snails and their allies."

For your excellent work on the Conus project, I hereby present to you this much-coveted award. Without fear of hyperbole, this is the single greatest award in the history of the known universe. So, of course, in the field of gastropods, it is a huge deal, and much talked-about. It is the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for malacology. Previous winners of this award include JoJan, Snek01, and Invertzoo, all of whom attained rock star status that nearly destroyed them. As word of this will hit the newspapers within a few days, I suggest getting out of town to avoid the media frenzy. -- Anna Frodesiak ( talk) 09:43, 8 April 2010 (UTC) |
Hi Ganesh, I see that in the Strictispira articles it says:
"A small species of sea snail"
instead of
"a species of small sea snail"
You may want to check the other genera and other similar families.
Thanks so much for all your work,

A Gastropod Barnstar
This beautiful Gastropod Barnstar is awarded to you Ganeshk, in recognition of all the dedicated work you have put into creating thousands of new stubs for WikiProject Gastropods, using Ganeshbot. Thank you for being so kind and generous. The snails and slugs are applauding. This is hard for them to do as they don't have hands, and also their bodies are rather soft. However some of them are trying to bang their opercula on their shells in order to make a clapping sound! Invertzoo ( talk) 18:46, 10 April 2010 (UTC) |
HI again Ganesh, I am going to be away for 3 weeks and not doing much at all online while I am gone, so I just wanted to say something now. See how things go, but if you get to a point where you want a change from making species stubs, consider asking Snek01 about making genus stubs for all of the genera that you have already made species stubs for.
A genus stub is really very easy to make by cutting down a species stub, and maybe you could even get the bot to write a species list within each genus article based on the species stubs you have already made. Anyway, you can ask Snek about it and how to do it, but it would be really nice to have, because it would plug all of those species articles into the "Tree of Life" structure, so that people can navigate up or down through the whole structure.
Anyway, I will be around for a couple more days still, but I may be a bit busy a lot of the time. Best wishes and thanks, Invertzoo ( talk) 22:33, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Your bot has created a bunch of stubs that link to Trochoidea. Trochoidea links to a disambiguation page because there is both a superfamily ( Trochoidea (superfamily) and a genus ( Trochoidea (genus)). Is there anyway you could program your bot to link to the correct taxon to lighten the burden of disambiguating those links manually? I'm manually fixing the links now. Thanks. -- JamesAM ( talk) 03:22, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Excellent work with the new stubs. It is nice to actually see a bot running creating articles for once. Hello Ganesh, I have finished Trochidae and you can import them. This will finish all Vetigastropoda on WoRMS. -- Snek01 ( talk) 22:51, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
Your bot, Ganeshbot, is creating a lot of articles with just Trochoidea listed as the superfamily in the infobox. Unfortunately, this is resulting in links to a Disambiguation page. Is there any way to get the bot to go through and update the superfamily to be Trochoidea (superfamily)?
I'm sure that myself or someone else who works on DAB pages will get them fixed eventually, but having the bot go through them would make things easier.
Any help you can offer is appreciated.

Buccinoidea is OK and ready to expansion. -- Snek01 ( talk) 14:50, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
There is an additional space, for example in Galeodes.

"WikiProject Report" would like to focus on WikiProject Gastropods for a Signpost article to be published in early May. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Also, if you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Have a great day. - Mabeenot ( talk) 03:46, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
I just wanted to thank you so much for putting a lot of time into helping us out with WikiProject Gastropods. It is very kind of you. We need all the help we can get because it's a very small group of people working on a huge class of organisms. Best wishes, Invertzoo ( talk) 19:29, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
The Bio-Barnstar
I award this Barnstar to Ganeshk for all the work he is putting into getting our six hundred brand new Conus stubs up and running! You are very generous and a good Wikipedian. Invertzoo ( talk) 19:32, 26 March 2010 (UTC) |
Excellent work with the new stubs. It is nice to actually see a bot running creating articles for once. In my view a bot should be generating content in this way as it makes starter articles consistent. What happened to your Indian village bot? I thought you planned on creating 638,000 articles for Indian settlements? Dr. Blofeld White cat 09:09, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Hello Ganesh, a small task for you: [1]. Thank you. -- Snek01 ( talk) 01:13, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello Snek and Ganeshk. You two did a great job on Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods. You read my mind. Simple, clear, clean, and with the "list of Gastropods articles by quality and importance" up on top. Beautiful.
Ganeshk: 18,452 articles!!!!!! Wow. Michal: There are chicken feet in your email box. I have asked Daniel and High Fin to help with uploads so I don't have to bug you so often. Ganeshk: To complete your initiation into the notorious Gastropod Cabal you still have to vandalize Wikipedia:WikiProject Insects. Michal: How can we find out how many insect articles there are? Thanks! You two are awesome. Anna Frodesiak ( talk) 12:17, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi Ganesh. I vaguely remember you being an OTRS volunteer. If true, can you please have a look at File:PuranaanuruPalmManuscript.jpg and File:VatteluttuInscriptionAtJainaCave.jpg? The original provider of the two images has confirmed that he has send his agreement on licensing to OTRS. But, the status has not changed to OTRS received. Please advice. -- Sundar \ talk \ contribs 06:54, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
