This seems to me clear on the point that material from blogs *on the living person* himself/herself is not allowed - but those references weren't on the person, as far as I'm aware. They were concerned with the ICT as an institution.

Hi Darkness Shines. I've noticed a mistake you keep making, which I've been having to correct in my copy edits. When you make a reference like this:

<ref name=Fred>details, details, details</ref>

then when you use the same reference a second time, you've been repeating the definition with all the details. This is wrong. What you should do the second time is just this:

<ref name=Fred/>

Take a look at this diff for an example.

While I'm here, "the abuses were only stopped by the intervention of the Indian armed forces" is not obvious and did need citation. I understand why you did that edit summary, but it was wrong and quite rude. Historical facts may be well known or poorly known, depending on the readership, but they are never "obvious". In fact, this bit of history is poorly remembered in the west, even by those old enough to have been able to read newspapers when it happened. To the younger generation of westerners, it's all but unknown. Requests for citations need to be met.

The page numbers are still there. Different page numbers need different refs, like your ref name=Totten2 and ref name=Totten3, but for each page, you only define the ref once, and then you use the slash notation for later occurrences. Take a look for yourself at how I've corrected refs Totten2 (page 248) and Totten3 (page 250) and see how the page numbers are still there. -- Stfg ( talk) 13:18, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

I have not violated the interaction ban. Sal seems to think I have done so twice, I have not. Sending an article to AFD is not an WP:IBAN violation. Nor is this [2] an IBAN violation. Not right yet, I'm afraid. Your Jones reference is only used once. You don't need to change the name every time. First, it's essential for you to read and understand Wikipedia:Citing sources#Repeated citations. Then in the references section of your article, look at footnote 15. The superscripted a and b point to the two places in the article that cite Dictionary of Genocide page 34. You'll see that they are both at the bottom of the "Background" section. Now look at the bottom of the "Background" section in the edit window to see how it does this. It refers to "ref name=Totten" twice. On one occasion it gives all the details like this:

<ref name=Totten>{{cite book|last=Totten|first=Samuel|title=Dictionary of Genocide: A-L|publisher=Greenwood|location=Volume 1|isbn=978-0-313-32967-8|coauthors=Paul Robert Bartrop, Steven L. Jacobs|page=34}}</ref>

and it is this that tells wikipedia how to make the footnote. The other time it just says this:

If I wrote "I believe there are off wiki communications between Mar4D SMS & TG" you would have blocked me for saying TG. I just pointed you to the thread in question with no mention of names to draw your attention to the fact that I am certain there is off wiki communication ongoing, this was evident from the SPI which was filed. Simply not mentioning TopGun's name doesn't mean it's not an interaction ban violation. Neither does mentioning his name necessarily make it a violation. That is a wikilawyer way of looking at things. It's the sentiment behind the statement. If you had come to my talkpage and said "I think TopGun is violating the interaction ban, this is why I think it; could you take action?" or filed a sockpuppet report with TopGun's name, it would not have been a violation because it would have been done in a good-faith effort to deal with the problem. But making a comment directly at him and implying that maybe there was an interaction ban isn't in any way trying to get the problem fixed. That's the difference. A prime example, I removed a copyright violation, all TG had done was use the Reflinks tool on the article, that was reported as am IBAN violation. That is why I commented out content instead of removing it on the restored article, and that was again reported as a violation. Like I said, I have been walking on eggshells. Not only that, but, as TopGun has correctly informed me, you've once again gone and broken another IBAN violation. I was considering unblocking you based on your own recognition of your faults. Please do not make any more comments directed at TopGun, about TopGun, or anything to do with TopGun unless you are specifically asking an administrator (through a formal or informal process) to address what you perceive to be a violation of IBAN on his part. No making sly comments toward him without using his name. No making comments about him without using his name. No talking about his mother or his father or anything he said for the past 15 years. That's it. It's that simple. Stop trying to get around that rule, and you will stop getting blocked.
