Thanks for helping out that user. They seem to be part of a class at Springfield College (Massachusetts) that was assigned to make new articles on Wikipedia concerning sexuality. I've contacted about a dozen of the accounts involved and asked them to ask their instructor to contact me, as there are some obvious problems with assignments of this sort, starting with the use of Wikipedia as a web host for class assignments. That said, they've added some useful content of variable quality, although the imperative to add new articles has led to overlap, as in Female contraception vs. Birth control. Needless to say, I haven't heard from the instructor, and I don't expect to. They have a tiresome habit of going around to each others' articles and patting each other on the back while ignoring input from editors outside the class circle, but I'm encouraged to see that one, at least, has asked the community at large (well, you and me) for help. I felt that Rival brand would be an extremely unlikely typo; and that it could mislead people looking for information on brand rivalries. Frankly, given that I don't expect Rival Brand to last out the hour, it also seemed like the cleaner thing to do, as otherwise a G8 would have to be done later. -- Orange Mike | Talk 17:45, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
If you visit the current version of User talk:User390573, and click on the phrase "my own talk page", it will send you to User talk:ClueBot Commons, not to User talk:Chzz as intended. That is because the code "my own talk page" incorrectly uses REVISIONUSER, which expands to the last user to edit that talk page (in this case, the cluebot) rather than to the user that inserted the notice into the talk page. Can you please fix this? Thanks. Eubulides ( talk) 05:33, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Great advice and was not about to get into any personal flame war over this. I think it was a childish act to remove it (when labeling it as Eurosceptic ranting) so soon but then it could have been seen as vandalism so I can understand many of the possible reasons for it, I had also formatted it very poorly at the time. I find it odd the page on the NSDAP is so basic with little detail, I know wikipedia is not a site solely for historical research but it is a resourceful place many do use and rely on for accurate or hard to find info at one consolidated site. Some think we should stop educating our people about history but then what do we learn from. Some say how tired this is but it was within one life time and that to me is not very long ago. Actually, Boris has written about some of this in the Telegraph (2002 article to google "What's Hitler got to do with the euro? Everything") which is still available online but to me this is not really a source as such, it is still classed as opinion. I only mentioned the Mayor as a joke really :) Enjoy the weekend. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elfree ( talk • contribs) 02:03, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi
Thanks for the info.
Am still using user/book and sandbox :) and learning a lot.
But I wonder how many times can I edit on my own stuff in user/book or in sandbox only ??
For I experience that it's not been saved or renewed. Are am editing to fast or to much or to many times or often ?? Maybe is best if I write it down in my word before I put it on my sandbox or user/book ??
What is the different between user/book vs sandbox ??
How can I put in a picture ??
I have photobucket where I have my picture.
Thanks for this :)

on a test page in your user area, such as
User:Nebulae1/test.Custom signatures
It's possible to customise your signature, and you can put 'code' in it to have different colours, etc. Pictures aren't allowed; hence, mine isn't an icon, it's just text characters with different colours.
You put the code in your preferences signature box, and checkmark the 'user raw signatures'; please note that it's fiddly, and easy to get it wrong, so it's best to best signing in a user sandbox area.
When using 'raw signatures' in your preferences, you need to manually include the links to your user and talk pages.
An example code is;
<small><span style="border:1px solid #0000ff;padding:1px;"><b>Chzz</b> : <font style="color:#accC10;background:#0000fa;"> Chat </font> </span></small>
Note that you should always include your name (or part of it), a link to your user page and talk page.
Perhaps the easiest way to learn more is simply to look at other peoples signatures, by editing the page they've signed on, and looking at the code. For an example page with several, ahem, interesting signatures, see the April 1st Request for signatureship.
For much more info on this, see Wikipedia:SIGNATURE#Customizing_your_signature.
If you need any help with it, ask here or talk to us live.

I suppose it wouldn't bother me all that much except, I look around at similar groups and find albums that are "out of print" and self-published [1], [2], [3], or nothing but a track list and idle for over a year with no edits [4], [5], [6], [7], [8] or pending release, and no refs at all, and no one seems to have a problem with those having lone article space. So, I guess I'm asking if we can make this album a stub like those others? Like you said, it "may" apply in this case... Just being optimistic! Ebonyskye ( talk) 05:16, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Regards talkback - you need to put the tb on their talk page; the idea is a) to keep conversation in one place, but by adding the tb to theirs, it will alert them to 'new messages'.
I'll get back to you about the survey shortly; for the purposes of our discussion, can I assume you'll be 'watching' this thread for a bit, so I don't need to keep using talkback? (Even better, get yourself sorted for IRC and we can chat about it in real time), Chzz ► 20:08, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I worked for a very long time on that page. For you to delete it because you did not consider the sources to be reliable, I feel, was very disrespectful. Show me a source that isn't reliable and I will show you somewhere in Wikipedia where that source has been used as reference in other articles within Wikipedia, as I've checked all this out ahead of time. If it is not found elsewhere in Wikipedia, however, I will remove that particular content. But to delete the entire article was unnecessary and far too done hastily.-- Jklein212 ( talk) 03:13, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I can NOT emphasize this enough. There seems to be a terrible bias among some editors that some sort of random speculative 'I heard it somewhere' pseudo information is to be tagged with a 'needs a cite' tag. Wrong. It should be removed, aggressively, unless it can be sourced.*

I do understand where you are coming from. I only referred to the article as being 'my article' because I created the page and have put much effort into it, but I did not literally mean 'my article'. I do feel that this is a very notable individual and would be a helpful Wikipedia article, so I would like to attempt to edit it appropriately. I will argue my case in the deletion review page, but if they agree with you and the page is then deleted, I will begin a user page to edit this article until it is better. ).5/7/09 Thanks for helping with the repeated reference problem on this page. I deleted the dead link as there are ample references listed at the end of the line and the statement regarding "many published books, articles and presentations" is documented heavily by virtue of the LONG list of citations and references on this page. I added two additional citations in the section for early career, so the tag re: "section needing citations" may be removed. I am not sure if you added this notation, or some other wiki editor did. Dear Chzz,
Thank you again for taking time with my poor project. I had to get Mr. Guenther to tell me where I might find outside sources concerning his birth and life and he did get me to the Directory of a leading literary magazine.
I have changed the entry and deleted some more things which Mr. guenther is trying to get citations for---such as his degrees and medals. (Most of the medals he says might not be sourceable and will have to go but he asks me so I ask you: he gave me that info based on fellow Marines listing such medals on wikipedia, how did they verify same).
Did I improve the article and next?
Mark Kohut —Preceding unsigned comment added by MKohut ( talk • contribs) 15:27, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
This self-reference did need to be 'accepted' by Poets & Writers' mag. Which is a long-running major literary periodical. They verify somehow, with calls to college or other orgs referenced by the author, I do believe. Should I get verification that they do that?
Otherwise, I do not see how, since birth certificates and places where one lived when born are not online, any entry can be begun. Does the author need to have had a biography written about him, where we can assume the biographer did get these facts right?
If I cannot source those details properly, then I must just list his name and books and a few other links?
I will eliminate some external links. I thought they showed enough 'reality' to substantiate the non-advertorial nature of Guenther's achievements.
I will eliminate the medals, also unsourceable as mentioned.
Thank You,

Other authors (and bios in general) usually do find a reliable source with DOB etc - often the information is provided in an interview piece in a newspaper, or a book about the author. Of course, there are many articles on Wikipedia that lack such things, but again, that is a problem to be addressed, rather than a defense to 'add to the problem'; I often recommend that writers look at featured articles as an example of how things 'should be done'; for example, in this case, perhaps James Robert Baker, Nigel Kneale, Mario Vargas Llosa, William Gibson, etc. I'm not indicating that the article needs to be raised to these exalted standards; just that they might give ideas.
Indeed, it is often only possible to have short articles, if sources are not available. A short, factual, balanced and well-cited article is far preferable. It can always be expanded at a later date.
Good luck, Chzz ► 14:58, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I condensed poetry links---to the two major issues. I dropped his medals' listing.
I created, half-created proper footnoting within the body---but I seemingly am too stupid to figure out how to get the number of the footnote to match the name of the source. I will reread the directions and try again later.....tired......lotsa detail in the doing.
You are such a prompt responder. Must be 'steady volunteer work' for you.

Acroterion (talk) 12:14, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

An example code is;
<small><span style="border:1px solid #0000ff;padding:1px;"><b>Chzz</b> : <font style="color:#accC10;background:#0000fa;"> Chat </font> </span></small>

I'm asking for you to then help me with it, if that is the case.--

Hi, I'm back. Hoping you will come take a second look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jonathan Hay (publicist) and read through the updated discussion material, if you don't mind. Thanks in advance. -- Jklein212 ( talk) 07:36, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

).5/7/09 Thanks for helping with the repeated reference problem on this page. Thanks again for your help JourneyWomanSLP ( talk) 03:24, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Dear Chzz,
Thank you again for taking time with my poor project.

Thanks for making the name change on article Boys' Town (Engadine)
The original request came from an unknown IP user who's only two posts were to my talk page. Instead of simply ignoring the request, as it appeared to have some merit, I posted the helpme tag, as I was not in any position to be able to address the issue at this time.
Thank you for making the page move. Dbiel ( Talk) 12:31, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

The other reason i reverted it back soon because, the IP address that edited the page was traced to Bangalore, i am not being judgementel or biased, i am using wikipedia for the past 4 years, though i have not participated in any discussion or editing, i usually follow all the articles i go through the talk page, and most of the Tamil pages or pages related to it are vandalized by IP addresses from Bangalore, I am not acussing but what noticed.
Thank you for your advise and tips. Moulee ( talk) 07:14, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
