Hey, you wanted some coments. It looks good, but there's a lot of info on the History of Manchester United page that isn't on the new page ... I'd suggest taking everything you can, then chopping the pre-1945 history bit from the main Man Utd page and linking. Proto 08:58, 31 May 2005 (UTC)
Bloody brilliant redirect! 81.152.107.108 00:19, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC) (Oh shite. I'm User:Smileyrepublic and I forgot to log-in.)
Never did get a definitive answer, just a "go ahead" from one of the crew who tidy up messes related to such issues; nevertheless, it doesn't seem right to me to extract some minor portion of some magazine cover for something totally unrelated (i.e. "picture of eyeball, from portrait of George Bush on cover of Time magazine") so I mostly just reproduce the whole cover or most of it with the dominant image. But I guess that means you can go ahead and use your own judgement. Gzuckier 15:33, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Yo! While I'm sure it'll never actually be finished (is anything here?), just wanted to say well done on everything you've done on cleaning up the page, especially the history section, because I know that was a hellishly big piece of work. Thanks for the tips on the FC Zwolle article :-) I've added some statistics, I've sectioned and expanded the club history (although it still needs improvement and expansion) and I've changed the use of Eredivisie and "the highest level of Dutch football". I will add a section about the rivalry with Go Ahead Eagles somewhere soon. Any other tips? Aecis 29 June 2005 09:12 (UTC)

G'day CTOAGN, I noticed you've still got Nigel Martyn listed on your userpage as "possible copyvio". Thought you'd like to know that Bad Wolf and I have changed the article significantly, so that there's nary a shred of the original copyvio article remaining. So Martyn's no longer a copyright issue (unless you count the image; does that count as fair use or not, d'yer know?). 'Course, if'n you'd like to keep it a priority by adding a whole heap of info to it ... ;-) -- fuddlemark 18:40, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

Hi CTAOGN, thanks for looking after Robin van Persie (I was just on a weekend break but I didn't want vandals to go unnoticed). Anyway, while on my weekend away I had a minor pub argument with a friend and I was wondering if you could settle it.
Basically, we were discussing the "three foreigner" rule that UEFA used to impose on clubs playing in European competition in the early 90s, and how it meant Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish players were counted as foreigners. However, I remembered, vaguely, that thanks to British nationality laws, players from the Republic of Ireland were not considered "foreign" and so were (paradoxically) not included under the rule. My friend disagreed and said Irish players were included as foreigners.
I struggled to think of an example where this affected Arsenal (at that time, most of Arsenal's players were English, hard as it is to believe nowadays :-)). But I do remember United being afflicted quite particularly by this rule with their non-English players, but not Irish players like Irwin and Keane. In particular, I remember United's thrashing by Barcelona, where Schmeichel was dropped to accomodate Giggs, but Irwin and Keane still started. The Bosman ruling page doesn't clarify the point, and I've tried finding early Champions League teamsheets from the early 90s to prove my point, but without much success, so I was wondering whether you (a) knew what the rule was for certain, and/or (b) knew where I could find some early 90s Champions League lineups that would settle the argument.
Cheers, Qwghlm 09:31, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
That IP had had a recent history of vandalism, and considering that, and the unsourced and highly specific nature of his edit, I felt the burden of proof was on it, and that burden was not met. If you want to readd it, please do, you aren't an anonymous vandal. :) It had nothing to do with the content and everything to do with the fact that it was an unsourced addition from a vandal IP. -- Golbez 19:14, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
No, I'm objecting to the fact that the paragraph on Arsenal women is too short. A solitary paragraph does not make a section. There's no harm in duplicating content. The main womens' page is meant to be expanded. This means that while the contents of both pages will remain the same for the moment, after sometime that page will get a character of its own as it gets expanded by the normal wikiprocess. To clarify things further, only the article nominated is allowed to be objected upon. =Nichalp «Talk»= 04:52, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the offer of help, I think it's going OK though. You could help by giving the new Supporters section a going-over for copyedits, and perhaps help with the very last sentence on the recent Arsenal-United rivalry (I haven't quite conveyed the right meaning atm, but I don't want it to become overladen with a blow-by-blow account of the Keown/van Nistelrooy or soup-throwing incidents either... Qwghlm 14:30, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
Hi! I noticed that you take interest in football. Well, actually, I've written an article on Frank Lampard ( User:Aabha R/Frank Lampard), and I wanted someone to read it. Can you please look at it for me and give me your comments? I'll be really thankful. The reason I rewrote the article, instead of editing the existing one was that the current article has lines directly picked up from the espnsoccer website, plus it doesn't cover everything. Is it ok to completely rewrite exixting articles like this? Thanks a lot! -- Aabha 19:21, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
Oh, and about the Swansea City games, the thing is that I couldn't find out what all tournaments he represented them in. I have that '2' in the 'Others' column in the table, but I don't know what these other tournaments were. (the Welsh Cup, or the Football League Trophy?) Also, he scored a total of 24 goals for West Ham in the league, acc to BBC, since he scored 1 for Swansea and has 39 for Chelsea(his total goals in the league are 64), but acc to this, he only got 23 for the Hammers in the league. What should I do?
oh, btw, this is kinda obvious, but this is only to see how the final thing will look..i'm not going to copy-paste it all, only add in stuff, or remove, whatever's the case! Aabha 11:22, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
Hey! Thats alright..take your time. Aabha 04:02, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
Hi CTOAGN..you know, if this is going to cause unnecessary controversy, lets just keep everything from the present article as the intro, remove the intro of my article, and just add the subtopics and the tables. If it was something I felt strongly about, or I thought was not right, I would have gone ahead and did it my way, but it isn't anything of that sort. So lets just forget deleting anything and just add stuff. You ought to be constructive, not destructive, right?

What does he think he's doing, redirecting Manchester to a crap article on Greater Manchester?
Must be a Scouser or something. Smileyrepublic 19:43, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
To be absolutely honest, I can't say what the total capacity of Highbury was during the 70s and 80s, figures were quite variable (as low as 25k for a crap match) but the top attendances were well over 50k and nearing 60k - I am not sure of what the theoretical maximum was. Arsenal's general lack of success had meant a long-term decline in attendances, alternatively, safety regulations may have reduced the numbers allowed on the terraces.
What you had said in the old edit of the article was that the two terraces - the North Bank and Clock End - had gradually been converted to seating before Hillsborough & the Taylor report, which is definitely not true - they were both terraces all the way through the 80s; the Clock End was converted to seating/boxes in 1990(ish), and the North Bank was totally demolished in 1992 and then rebuilt. The move to all-seater was quite sudden, in historical terms.
Thanks lots for all the help on the article, btw. Am hoping a couple more people will approve, it would be good to have a good example of a decent sport article. :) Qwghlm 22:53, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

Cheers. No, cricket isn't broadcast (not on any channels normally accessible, anyway - NRK sent one match last year, to cater for the Pakistani population in Norway - naturally, they chose a game between New Zealand and West Indies to do that...). But I just saw some people on web forums throwing around words like lbw, wicket, seam bowling and so forth. So I decided to read up on it, visited Cricinfo a lot, and then got hooked. Hi Thanks for the message. I dont feel the need to leave a reply on that deletion page. They have made up their mind. They say it is too obscure and so be it. I might use your idea for the players, coincedentally one of FCUM'S players used to play for Dorchester. Namely Mark Rawlinson. I saw him not so long ago at one of our games. ( Dtfcdev 17:30, 8 January 2006 (UTC))
Re: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dorchester Town footballers - when you say merge, do you (1) mean merge content into Dorchester Town F.C., and delete the articles, or (2) merge, and leave the articles as redirects? I have no problem with the former but I do with the latter - people searching Wikipedia for e.g. Nick Jones are unlikely to be looking for the Dorchester footballer. It would also set a bad precedent for other club pages to (ab)use redirects in a similar manner. Qwghlm 09:40, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

I note that you seemed to be reminiscing about the "Happy Days" when you last posted a note on the Manchester United 1998-1999 page. Presumably you are now an FCUM supporter? Personally know very little about FCUM - although the FCUM Wiki page was quite interesting. I'm afraid I'm a sick individual who has continued to support Manchester United despite the takeover by Uncle Mal. Come to think of it, this whole posting doesn't actually say anything, but I guess Discuss pages on Wikipedia articles are not really the place to hold a conversation!!! Hi - Only me, again! (Oh, God, no!) Thanks for the suggestion about FCUM on Channel M. Sadly, at present this is not available on SKY TV and - not having a broadband connection, if it's available to view on the Channel M website it wouldn't be much use to me anyway! Have done a bit of looking up on FCUM elsewhere, but probably the best way to find out about it would be to go to a game. Sadly, my wife holds the purse-strings and my leash very tightly (but we won't go there!). Still - I'll see what I can do. (Reluctantly) agree with the point re: fans in crowd after Treble. Since I don't think I put the original comment in I'm not too fussed about seeing it removed. Again. DAAdshead 09:28, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. I've not had too much hassle with images myself but I've seen SO many Featured Article Candidates get knocked back for it that I'm starting to think whats the point.... had a couple deleted from the Iron Maiden (band) article that I finally got on the front page but it's hard work! -- PopUpPirate 21:52, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

Will a picture from the website of an agency that manages the particular player be Fair Use? It is a sort of promo photo, isn't it? - Aabha | talk 11:18, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

Just saw this article whilst doing new pages patrol and thought I'd bring it to your attention.

DAAdshead 15:26, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

You might find the new administrators' how-to guide helpful. Cheers! -- Cecropia 00:03, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
