I noticed that such a comment was recently left on the IP user talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:217.155.0.238
The reason I arrived at that talk pace was because I noticed a problem with the current Muhammad_Ali article - that there was a second copy of the "First Title" section. The history of the article tells me that this user actually corrected this problem (a correction which was later reverted).

Any idea which one is the correct title, Międzyrzecz Podlaski or Międzyrzec Podlaski? I'll repeat a question here I asked of you a few days ago at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Adding words for redirection purposes: Is there any chance we could get a script to look for article titles with diacritics and suggest redirects without them ( Axel Hagerstrom is, and Axel Haegerstroem could conceivably be, a redirect to Axel Hägerström) whenever these are lacking? It would also be useful if it could identify every case where a possible redirect is a full article (or redirects somewhere else). In many cases these are probably articles on something completely different or disambiguation pages ( Åmål, Amal) but in some cases these may be duplicates which should be merged and redirected. up+land 06:22, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I have a script going now that I think is right on the money, but I thought I'd run it by you just to make sure. Currently it only handles the ä, ö, ü diacritics, but adding it the whole lot would not be too difficult. Anyway, where it's at right now: If I type in "Hägerströmung" (not your original example, but I wanted something to test all three) it produces the following list of potential redirects:
Do you see any that are missing? Is this what you wanted? AmiDaniel ( talk) 02:38, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Case "ä", "á", "à", "â", "ã": FirstAlt = "a" Case "å": FirstAlt = "a" Case "æ": FirstAlt = "ae" Case "ë": FirstAlt = "e" Case "ö", "ó", "ò", "ô": FirstAlt = "o" Case "ø": FirstAlt = "o" Case "ü", "ú", "ù", "û": FirstAlt = "u" Case "ÿ", "ý": FirstAlt = "y" Case "ç": FirstAlt = "c" Case "ñ": FirstAlt = "n" Case "ä", "á", "à", "â", "ã": SecondAlt = "ae" Case "å": FirstAlt = "aa" Case "æ": FirstAlt = "a" Case "ë": SecondAlt = "ee" Case "ö", "ó", "ò", "ô": SecondAlt = "oe" Case "ø": FirstAlt = "ö" Case "ü", "ú", "ù", "û": SecondAlt = "ue"
The following are overkill in my opinion:
Case "ö", "ó", "ò", "ô": SecondAlt = "oe" Case "ü", "ú", "ù", "û": SecondAlt = "ue" Case "ä", "á", "à", "â", "ã": SecondAlt = "ae"
It is really enough with:
Case "ö": SecondAlt = "oe" Case "ü": SecondAlt = "ue" Case "ä": SecondAlt = "ae"
(Not sure if the code makes any sense, as I just took out stuff, but you get my point.) In addition, ø needs redirecting from oe ( Ole Roemer -> Ole Rømer). OE, UE and AE are variants for the umlauts, not for every other possible diacritic. Even though it is conceivable through OCR error or for other reasons that a "ü" may end up as a "û" in a name, I think it is a bad idea to start mass-producing redirects such as Ole Rómer, Ole Rômer, Ole Ròmer -> Ole Rømer. up+land 13:13, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Don't mean to annoy you, but have you checked your e-mail recently? I don't want to be rude, but I fear it may not have got through your spam filter, since you've been editing but it's been nearly 24hrs. If I'm wrong, and I'm disrupting your schedule, ignore me! Thanks. -- Xyra e l T 19:19, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
No offense, but I'd appreciate it if you'd please tell me of new versions rather than outright remove my site from the list of mirrors. It would give me a chance to download the new version right away rather than find out by myself. As you know, I was on Wikibreak and not checking my watchlist. I'd just prefer it if you tell me so I can update quick. Can you do that for me please? Thank you. — Natha n ( talk) 19:14, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Can you please give me a list of files to mirror? -- GeorgeMoney T· C 19:43, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I was thinking of using User:AmiDaniel/VP/GlobalBL to highlight likely vandals with my vandal tool. Would you have any objections to that? I can decipher it - the javascript for doing so would be in plain view as part of User:Lupin/recent2.js, although the list itself would not. Lupin| talk| popups 02:52, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof version 1.2.1 has been continuously rejecting my username, Do you know why? Cheers, Jean-Paul 15:26, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi AmiDaniel. I have a question... I use Mozilla FireFox to browse Wikipedia, and I do a lot of vandalism monitoring and reverting. Is there an anti-vandalism tool that works with Mozilla? It appears your VandalProof only works with IE. Any suggestions? Kasreyn 16:04, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
I have created a sockpuppet called User:GeorgeMoney VandalProof ( proof) because my monobook.js crashes IE. It got approved, but is there some way to import GeorgeMoney's watchlist into GeorgeMoney VandalProof's watchlist? -- GeorgeMoney T· C 18:38, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
I have started getting repeated JavaScript bugs, normally I only get one (when the user list loads) but now I get them anytime I do anything using VandalProof. They all say the same thing 'Unterminated string constant on line 731 char 34. Code 0'. Is this a new bug? I have never had this many JavaScript errors before. Prodego talk 21:38, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Alright, that makes sense, since I was only suggesting the dletion becuase it's alreayd on the Parma Ohio article, and a merge would accomplish the same thing. -- Wizardman 22:58, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
I installed VP 1.2 and entered my username and it wouldn't let me log in, stating that either I hadn't logged into Wikipedia, had logged in under the wrong name, or am not on the approved list. Obviously, none of these are the case. So what's happening? Please assist. -- HubHikari 00:44, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
