Why do I release my contributions into the public domain? First of all, I don't want to cause trouble to people who want to re-use it, for whatever reason – the JPL Image Policy is an example of even a benign license that can cause much trouble. Secondly I think that we humans could have only achieved what we have today through the re-use of the ideas and resources created by other humans – my contributions may be humble, but even the Solar System was formed from dust particles.
