I, Nick2253, born Nick, am a Wikipedian who enjoys using Wikipedia as a means of
procrastinating on work. I believe that Wikipedia will be the primary
portalmankind will use to access
information within the next half-century. As such, it is very important to me that Wikipedia takes this
responsibility seriously, and produces high quality,
non-biased articles on everything.
My Wikipedia Philosophy
This user uses Wikipedia as a primary point of reference.
This user strives to maintain a policy of neutrality on controversial issues.
This user believes that articles are useless without images.
As alluded to above, my primary desire is to see Wikipedia become the reference source for the entire sum of human
knowledge. I honestly believe that this will happen, whether we like it or not, in the next half-century. Already, students from
elementary school to
graduate school rely on Wikipedia as a quick, first-reference source for research, and I cannot see that becoming less common. However, this means that Wikipedia must be completely
NPOV, and should strive to
include as much information on as many topics as possible. In order to accurately convey this information, all article must have
pictures and/or
diagrams. Truly,
a picture is worth a thousand words.
Though
English spacing doesn't really matter on Wikipedia given its markup engine, the other points do, and influence my contributions to topics. As an American, I contribute, intentionally or not, using the American
vernacular, which includes the use of the
singular they. In a similar vein, I do not care for the
politically correct he/she paradigm, and in general I find that irritating and distracting while reading. Unless otherwise specified, "he" will be used as the grammatically correct neutral pronoun, and "they" will be used as the grammatically incorrect one.
