Hi, I was born in Saint-Petersburg Russia, lived and worked there for the best half of my life, then worked in the USA at the UIUC. I then moved to Australia to work for Moldflow (currently Autodesk Moldflow). I am earning my living as a plastic engineer but interested in aspects of human culture and God's wisdom. If you understand Russian language you can read my livejournal at http://www.livejournal.com/users/zanuda. Or on IRC as Alex Bakharev/abakharev.
I am an admin on English Wikipedia, if you want me to be recalled here is the instruction how to do it in four easy steps.
In the best Soviet Traditions, let me celebrate the New Year by awarding barnstars for the best contributions during the last few months:
The next awarding ceremony would be at some other Soviet holiday, probably the March 8 abakharev 07:39, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
User:Khoikhoi got Order of Friendship of Peoples, as per statute, "for accomplishments in strengthening of inter-ethnic and international friendship and cooperation". It was a relatively minor Order in the Soviet Union, but I regard it as one of the highest awards on Wikipedia
May 9 is the Victory Day in Russia so I distributed awards to the users involved into the Great Patriotic War.
I also took the occasion to award peaceful people, who greatly contributed to Russian and Ukrainian topics:
Thanks to everybody.
The next series of awards is to celebrate my own birthday, that is a fine Soviet tradition as well.
This time the New Year comes earlier as I intend to take a break. The national decorations seem to be too controversial, so now I am distributing only barnstars:
Lets celebrate one year of my mop: It looks like it was an infinite time ago.
I am sure I forgot somebody who truly deserved a barnstar, may add it later or another day. Alex Bakharev 12:09, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Lets celebrate the Holidays. Christmas (Gregorian and Julian), New Year, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa - whatever is applicable:
User:Russavia receives the original barnstar for commons:Template:Kremlin.ru. It is a real victory over the joint forces of WMF's and Russian Presidential bureaucracy! Alex Bakharev ( talk) 02:15, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
User:Slim Virgin receives the Protector of Wiki barnstar for her work of making Wikipedia the cleaner workplace for everyone Alex Bakharev ( talk) 00:36, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
User:Mosedschurte receives the Epic barnstar for his redesigning of Joseph Stalin article Alex Bakharev ( talk) 12:40, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
the receiving side of the AfD.
