Niel Datiles and his brother Jemuel Datiles are known in the Philippine Schools in Saudi Arabia for being highly artistic and talented especially in drawing manga. Jemuel has currently competed in two inter-school competitions and one semi-international competition held Bahrain.He won third place. However some controversy sparked about who won the competition and the placing was moved by one, therefore placing him in fourth place. The Brothers are currently residing in Mississauga, Ontario.

Bahrain Controversy

In an on-the-spot painting contest, a student from SPIS (Second Philippine International School), the second Filipino school to open in Saudi Arabia and well known for its oveflowing student population, won the competition. However, some judges argued about the fact that he pasted a picture in his painting. He was stripped of the Trophy and was disqualified. Two months later, during the annual Cheering Squad and Pep Squad competition, the judges changed their opinions and gave the trophy back to the SPIS kid. This caused outrage to some parents which led to the formation of another school.
