Naming
Wonder if it would be tighter and more elegant to title this template "Horses of India" - given that the partbreds, types and formal breeds are all included. Thoughts?

I thought about it, and felt that consistency with all the other templates of this type was as good a criterion as any; I don't feel strongly about it, it really doesn't much matter what a template is called. The displayed name is "Horse breeds and types of India", for just the reasons you mention.

Maybe the display could just say "Horses of India" , not moving the template itself? You are right about precision, but it looks clunky.
