Resolute desk

" Jimmy Carter requested that this historic desk be returned to the White House... President Ronald W. Reagan... George Bush... Bill Clinton...George W. Bush chose to continue using it in the Oval Office during his terms." [1]Source: "In January 1977, requested that the historic desk return to the Oval Office. Since then, the Resolute Desk has been used by every president in the Oval Office, although only used it for five months before switching to a different desk. It was returned during the Bill Clinton administration and has remained there ever since." [2]

    • ALT1:... that William Evenden, the man who built the Resolute desk (pictured), committed suicide due to unemployment, and his grave can not be found?

"... which unfortunately showed he committed suicide after being distraught at the thought of being unemployed and maybe entering the Workhouse!... Although he was buried in consecrated ground at Chatham Cemetery, but his grave can no longer be found." [3]

    • ALT2:... that the eagle carved on the Resolute desk (pictured) faces the wrong way?

"The center panel with the Presidential Seal was added for President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1945. This version of the Presidential Seal depicts the eagle facing to the left and the talon holding the arrows. President Harry Truman would change the seal slightly by having the eagle face to the right and the talon holding the olive branch." [4]

"It was placed in his office Saturday, Feb. 4 " [5]

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
  • Cited: Yes - Offline/paywalled citation accepted in good faith
  • Interesting: Yes
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Article recently reached GA status, is long enough and looks well sourced. ALT0s first source was not specific enough so I added an additional source. Assuming good faith on 3, I don't have a subscription but the headline and preview are pretty clear (haha). Other than that the hooks are all cited and interesting. There are a few block quotes that Earwig is falsely picking up as copyvio but other than that it looks good. The hooks are cited and interesting Photo is free, used in the article and looks good small. All this needs is a qpq and then it will be ready. qpq has been provided so this one's ready.
