ALT2:... that photos of the dwarf planet
Pluto's heart-shaped region(pictured) revealed 3,400 m (11,000 ft) mountains made of water ice in the surface feature?
... that the dwarf planet
Pluto's heart-shaped region (pictured) is named Tombaugh Regio by NASA's New Horizons team in honor of the astronomer
Clyde Tombaugh, who discovered Pluto?
ALT1:... that photos of the dwarf planet
Pluto's heart-shaped region(pictured) revealed 3,400 m (11,000 ft) mountains made of water ice and no craters in the surface feature?
ALT3:... that the dwarf planet
Pluto's heart-shaped region (pictured), named Tombaugh Regio after the discoverer of Pluto,
Clyde Tombaugh, is found by some to resemble
Pluto, the Disney dog?
Comment: A failed ITN nomination done by me. :( Meanwhile, the article will be renamed Tombaugh Regio by consensus soon. ALT5, ALT6, or ALT7 would be good for April Fools.
I'm striking a bunch of the hooks just to make less work for the reviewer. This isn't being held for April Fools, and some of the hooks are just more wordy versions of other hooks.

Never mind; I de-struck these ALTs for April Fools. Let's leave it up to reviewer then.

I mean, the hooks are timely now, I don't think it's worth sitting on them for eight months until next April rolls around. TBH I'm not super crazy about ALT5–7 anyway, they seem more confusing than clever to me.

Full review needed now that hooks seem to be set.

I think the extremely large number of ALTs is intimidating potential reviewers, so I've hidden the stricken ones. I left one of the three versions of the April Fools hook, but I still would rather not hold it that long.

Dates are good, length is good, tone is neutral, prose is clear, and citations are plentiful. QPQ checks out. Text appears free of close paraphrasing. Hook facts are all directly cited and supported by their sources. I've struck ALT6 as confusing. ALTs 2, 4, 8, and 9 all check out but I have a very strong preference for ALT 8. -
