Patrick Dehm

  • ... that when the theologian Patrick Dehm was suspended by the Bishop of Limburg, he founded an ecumenical association to continue the work for contemporary church music? Source: [1]

Created by Gerda Arendt ( talk). Self-nominated at 10:25, 15 December 2016 (UTC).

  • New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced. As all refs are in German, I did spot checks with Google Translate but did not find close paraphrasing. Foreign-language hook refs AGF. QPQ done. Good to go. Yoninah ( talk) 00:57, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
  • @ Gerda Arendt and Yoninah: I was about to promote this but thought the hook needed modification because he was not the only person who founded the association, it seems to have been a joint enterprise. Cwmhiraeth ( talk) 07:18, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
He found others who joined him in the protest and continuation of the work, but it was caused by him being unwanted, - can you or someone else word that? The hook doesn't say he was the only founder, and actually it seems common that there's more than one, - you need seeral people to staff the board. -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 07:23, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
I have asked a question about this on the DYK discussion page. Meanwhile, could "promoting" be substituted for "the work for" in the hook? Cwmhiraeth ( talk) 10:01, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
Don't know, promoting sounds a bit promotional, and would you say "promoting love", "promoting peace"? I leave it to native speakers. -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 11:26, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
But you see, I can't understand the phrase "to continue the work for". What work is to be continued? What is the objective of the new association? Is the new association trying to encourage the use of "Neues Geistliches Lied", in preference to traditional church music? Cwmhiraeth ( talk) 13:29, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
It's too much to put in a hook. Dehm and others worked for the diocese for NGL (new books, money for groups, - while more or less than traditional doesn't matter). The bishop fired Dehm, and he and the others went on to the same work, but ecumenical, no longer for the diocese. The diocese had been a leader within Germany, and suddenly lost the whole group, because of one remark Dehm made about the bishop's action. One of the many things that went wrong in the diocese under the "luxury bishop". -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 18:04, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
Returning this hook to the nominations page as per discussion on my talk page. Cwmhiraeth ( talk) 10:23, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
I referenced the publications, hope that helps, -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 23:37, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
@ Gerda Arendt: Thank you. There are still several "citation needed" tags however. Cwmhiraeth ( talk) 10:43, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
Sorry, didn't see those, used to having to reference published works, which I'd think reference themselves. Again, away, more patience. The job/curse having to hunt for refs for things from the German Wikipedia is with me from my article #2 back in 2009, - it's not productive. I may decide to remove some facts, as not crucial anyway. -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 11:24, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
I worked on them now. Strange: the Gotteslob has no list of authors, - sentence removed, can't check 900 numbers one by one ;) -- Gerda Arendt ( talk) 23:19, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
