This makes for a fascinating read, but there are two sizeable paragraphs which require citations before I proceed with the rest of the review. I also feel that the article has a potential to produce a more attention-catching hook.

It took me a while to verify because the citations lack page numbers, but I am very happy to approve this nomination now. The article is long enough, and was nominated shortly after creation. I have checked the sources and found nothing of concern. QPQ not needed as far as I can tell. Since the photograph is in public domain, I wonder if it could be nominated with the hook. It might be nice to have a woman in uniform on the Main Page.

Surtsicna: I updated the article using copyvios. There is still a 25.9 percent match to NYT article but they are all job descriptions.
