... that during the construction of New York City's Van Wyck Expressway, an apartment building was placed on metal rollers and relocated away from the expressway's path? Source:
NY Times.
ALT1:... that the construction of New York City's Van Wyck Expressway required the relocation of an apartment building, so it was placed on metal rollers and relocated away from the expressway's path? Source: NY Times
Other problems: - Prefer the wording of the ALT0. I think it would be best to include the height of the building (four stories) in the hook and article, lest we have people imagining a skyscraper on wheels.

SounderBruce: Thanks for the review. How about this alternate hook?

Hi, I came by to promote this, but I do not understand the sentence confirming the hook fact in the article: One 4-story apartment building, which housed 35 families, was placed on metal rollers and relocated away from the expressway's path because there was not enough space to build individual homes for these families. I would think they moved it out of the way because it was in the expressway's path, not because they wanted to build 35 homes in its place. I can't access the source; could you clarify, please? Thanks,

Yoninah: The apartment building was placed on metal rollers and relocated away from the expressway's path. The apartment building can host 35 families on 4 floors. To build 35 individual homes would require four times as much land area. However, there was not enough land to build 35 individual homes, and demolishing a building without constructing a replacement is a non-starter, so it was more efficient to relocate the building.

Epicgenius: Okay. So maybe you should add to that sentence that if the building were simply demolished, they would have to construct new housing?
