Substantial new article on good sources, offline sources accepted AGF. Sometimes I wonder if Britain might mean England. I feel that singer and article deserve an image and suggested one. If you want this hook, please add a source right after the statement, and please spare us links to Gounod and Melbourne. However, I imagine that a hook wording that Mephisto[pheles] went to hell and the singer died would be more dramatic, and show his voice type and repertory ;) --

In this instance Britain means just that and not England. As an alternative hook, how about:
I agree that "Britain" is correct, here, as he was not born in England, and his touring took him throughout the British provinces. I prefer Alt 1, but feel free to choose and modify whichever one you prefer. --
