Comic Neue

5x expanded by 97198 ( talk). Self nominated at 06:48, 31 July 2014 (UTC).

  • Expanded enough and recently enough; neutral; no close paraphrasing, plagiarism or copyvio; citations littered throughout in numbers too great to count (on your fingers). QPQ done. Hook fact cited. One request: is it possible to have an image of a sample of the typeface? (it seems to be free, but I don't know whether an image of a typeface develops some special rights; ping image experts; stop making up words for "pretty" and get over here to give your opinion). Good to go with original hook, but I'll suggest an ALT as the quote made me laugh when I read it:
ALT1 ... that Comic Neue is "a slightly less horrible version of Comic Sans"?

  • @ Belle: I uploaded my own shoddy attempt at creating a sample image, as well as a PD image comparing the two fonts which might look okay at DYK's 100px (see right) with a note like (comparison pictured). What do you think? 97198 ( talk) 10:53, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
  • I think that works (it's a lot clearer than "Blurry human figure" or "Building with important detail rendered indiscernible" which we use all the time). Belle ( talk) 11:18, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Ha, true. So here's
ALT1a: ... that Comic Neue is "a slightly less horrible version of Comic Sans" (comparison pictured)? 97198 ( talk) 11:36, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Would this SVG show up better? 23W 21:24, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Willing to go a little meta? 23W 21:59, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
I like the last one. Prep-builder, shall we try to sneak it past the purists who say the image must be used in the article? [winks conspiratorially] Belle ( talk) 23:55, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
  • I can place it in the article if 97198 is okay with it. I don't think the "Did you know?" would look too inconspicuous in the article as dummy text. 23W 00:01, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
  • Yes, that could work, but it isn't as much fun as trying to be naughty. Belle ( talk) 00:20, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
  • So true. 23W 00:39, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
  • Looks fantastic, 23W! 97198 ( talk) 11:32, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks. I think it shows up well enough for a lead spot. 23W 19:09, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Since everyone (including I, or me, or something) seems to want the image i.e. the last image, I believe, I've struck all but ALT1a, since it's the only one that uses it. EEng ( talk) 19:32, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
