Interesting history on good sources, offline sources accepted AGF. Image nice and free. The ALT doesn't work with pictured, because the pictured chapel didn't serve then. In the original hook, the name of the chapel comes too late for my taste, - people will have clicked on other links instead. For me, just to point at free and enslaved Afro Americans would be interesting enough. --

While I generally think it's preferable to have the bold link early in a hook, in this case I think it reads smoother rearranged as in ALT3a.

I agree that it reads smoother, but death is not smooth. I would stop reading at "state legislators" ;) - IF that way, at least get the slaves to the front, --
