Is it really appropriate to have this category? I think not for the following reasons:
The page is about a cosmologist, not a civil-rights activist / social scientist so her sexual orientation is irrelevant. Her work is highlighted, not her life-style choices.
There is no mention made of her sexual orientation on the page. Very little of a personal nature is mentioned, but this is specifically not mentioned.
Her page is the only member of the category which gives the impression that there are (almost) no LGBT scientist in South Africa. Having a category with a single member seems unnecessary and misleading.
I'm going to remove it and wait for a reaction and discussion.

Added general LGBT Scientists category. It has more people in than the LGBT scientists from SA one.
