New user, New Books

Stine has released at least 2 additional novels that have not yet been included in the listing, including an autobiography and an additional Goosebumps: Most Wanted title listed on his main website. The books are titled It Came From Ohio and A Nightmare on Clown Street, respectively. Additionally, while there is a reference for Eted with the other listed works, or should only books be listed? Just a question. I would make the changes myself, but I'm unable to since I'm a relatively new user. Have to edit an author wiki for a class, etc. Since I can't edit, I'll at least point it out. ImNotTrevor ( talk) 22:46, 9 June 2015 (UTC) reply

I added A Nightmare on Clown Street. It Came from Ohio was already included, I just added a note saying an updated version was published this year. I don't think Eureeka's Castle needs to be added to his list of works as it is already mentioned in the text, and I can see people confusing Eureeka's Castle as a book if we were to include it with all of his books. Also, if you'd like to make any changes to this article for your class, you only need autoconfirmed status – this requires 10 edits and your account to be four days old. You could also try editing another article on an author – most articles do not require autoconfirmed status to edit. This one does due to vandalism; unfortunately a lot of people find it funny to add bullshit and fake works to the article. Fearstreetsaga ( talk) 05:38, 10 June 2015 (UTC) reply

I KNOW I had some of his "Jovial Bob Stine" books as a kid, but my memory is way too fuzzy to contribute to the article. Giant list

I recently added a lot of books to the list on this page, because it was extremely incomplete. However, now it is a really really long list. I like the idea of a list of all his books together, but at the same time, other pages already have lists of some of his books (ie. the List of Goosebumps Books page, and the Fear Street page). Opinions? Spock of Vulcan ( talk) 16:05, 29 September 2009 (UTC) reply

Yes, the list is rather too long. Perhaps a new page for his bibliography could be created. After all, there are two bibliographies for Stephen King's work (novels and short fiction) and I'm quite sure R. L. Stine has written more books than (the) King. I would offer to do it myself, but I'm inept. Missrain4 ( talk) 03:23, 19 December 2009 (UTC) reply

I second that, make a separate 'Books of R.L. Stine' page and leave here a list of names of each series and time frame in which they were first published (e.g. Goosebumps 19XX - 20XX). I would try and do it but I'm pretty useless at editing.-- 82.32.195.84 ( talk) 14:05, 22 March 2010 (UTC) reply

Adaptation of Goosebumps to television series.

Something that was not included in this article is that some of RL Stine's Goosebumbs books were adapted to television. The USA channel briefly had a show entitled "Goosebumps" which aired in 1995 that adapted Stine's Goosebump books to a TV show format that lasted for about a half hour or an hour. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marx99 ( talkcontribs) 19:01, 22 January 2011 (UTC) reply

Yes, read the description, not the review. Quote from source: "R.L. Stine is the best-selling children's author in history (with 400 million books sold in 32 languages all around the world). Now he's come to the world of the iPhone!". Here's another source from 2008: [1].

The link that was on the section went to a page that talked about the book. That was not the problem. The problem was that it was on the header. I transfer the link to the book and added the to second book. That way both books can be reached. I added a sentence about the re-release in 2010 under the name bitten, with isbn. I felt it was better mention here because it contains both books. I also added a redirect page to that section for those who are looking for information on the book and what stories are a part of it. It made more since than creating a whole page about the book and prevent someone else from creating a duplicate like I almost did. I have the book but did not relized it was two books in one. In the Goosebumps section, I thought it would be easier to have a list of all the Goosebumps books available instead of having a link since all of the other series have a list. It would make it easier for readers, instead of having to switch to an entirely different page and go back if they wanted to look at the other lists. I also think it would be very helpful to put dates by each book for the year it was written. This will help people to compare books better and see which ones are better to read first, or just out of curiosity.

There are a couple things wrong with the page. If someone would be nice enough to fix them, that would be great. First Ready Set Ghost for the Rotten School series is not a book of the series. Which in turn would bring the ones below it up one in the series. Second is that Party Games is not a fear street book but a stand alone book. Third is that Crosswinds is broken it has not dot and leads to no where, which Im not sure if its even his or he did any work on it. Fourth I do not see a Most Wanted special series list which is different from the Most Wanted series. 72.15.25.104 ( talk) 21:47, 9 February 2015 (UTC) reply

Pseudonyms

For R. L. Stine at Library of Congress Authorities ( "Stine, R. L."; LCCN: n85-268710, a number assigned in 1985), the Library of Congress notes ["See also"] that "Stine, Jovial Bob" (only) is another name by which Stine is in the catalog (LCCN is assigned; probably some books are catalogued). In fact ["Browse this term in LC Authorities", and onward to the catalog], there are now 17 LC Online Catalog records that credit this R. L. Stine.

I added this line to section External links:

For Jovial Bob Stine, however, LC lists also "Affabee, Eric" and "Blue, Zachary" as other names for Jovial Bob in the catalog. In fact, they appear in two and one catalog records.

Those may be useful here.

Evidently LCCNs were assigned to Jovial Bob in 1977, Stine and Blue in 1985, Affabee in 2000. -- P64 ( talk) 21:17, 8 August 2018 (UTC) reply

Also, if you'd like to make any changes to this article for your class, you only need autoconfirmed status – this requires 10 edits and your account to be four days old. You could also try editing another article on an author – most articles do not require autoconfirmed status to edit. I concur. It reads like the bio found at the

Fback page of his books. Also, there's no mention of the fatc that he created the television show "Eureeka's Castle" or of the various attempts to turn "Goosebumps" into a theatrical film.

The copyvio was removed as it was a direct copy from the R. L. Stine website, then was copy edited and cited. I do remember that Stine wrote for Eureka's Castle, but I didn't know how to work it in and I have never heard of Stine trying to make Goosebumps as a film. Adult horror novel

In addition to the countless children's books, R.L. Stine has written at least one novel for adults called Superstition, which was in the New York Times bestseller list for awhile.

It's been listed in his book list, I just haven't made the distinction in what the novel was about. Please sign your comments with four tildes in the future, thanks. -- Dleav 13:36, 2 November 2006 (UTC) reply

Jovial Bob Stine?

I KNOW I had some of his "Jovial Bob Stine" books as a kid, but my memory is way too fuzzy to contribute to the article. I am reasonably convinced, however, that in the '80s he was as noteable as a humour writer (Cracked?) as he was for his horror books.

I agree, I think the list is overkill and should probably be given its own page. A personal thing, I really dislike level 4 and above headers... the text becomes smaller than the body of the section.

Here are all the sections of this article, plus suggestions to improve accuracy. Please help in making it accurate and fully cited.

  • Lead and infobox - Good.
  • Biography - Needs more citations, not everything there is accurate.
  • Bibliography - Needs to include the ISBN at the very least, needs to be updated and include accurate titles.

Lede, books have sold over 400 million copies - I can't see that in the reference given; am I missing something?
I really think the bibliography needs to be moved to a separate article, and just have a paragraph or two giving an overview of the major series.  Chzz   ►  17:59, 1 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Yes, read the description, not the review. Quote from source: "R.L. Stine is the best-selling children's author in history (with 400 million books sold in 32 languages all around the world). Now he's come to the world of the iPhone!". Here's another source from 2008: [1].
And yes, I agree that the section should be separated, leaving just an overview of his books. I'm too lazy to do it myself. Fearstreetsaga ( talk) 23:28, 1 March 2011 (UTC) reply

Fixed Error with dangerous girls section

The link that was on the section went to a page that talked about the book. That was not the problem. The problem was that it was on the header. I transfer the link to the book and added the to second book. That way both books can be reached. I added a sentence about the re-release in 2010 under the name bitten, with isbn. I felt it was better mention here because it contains both books. I also added a redirect page to that section for those who are looking for information on the book and what stories are a part of it. It made more since than creating a whole page about the book and prevent someone else from creating a duplicate like I almost did. I have the book but did not relized it was two books in one. I am still reading it. That is everything I did. Program Death ( talk) 22:30, 28 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Books

I've been adding info like book publishing dates to the bibliography and noticed that there are a lot of lists of Goosebumps books even though there is a very good and complete list of Goosebumps books in the mentioned List of Goosebumps Books page. Should some of the Goosebumps and Fear Street book lists be taken off of this page since they already have their own pages?
