J Shape....?

"The effect of alcohol on the risk of dementia is a J-shape." What is this supposed to mean? I'll have to read the reference to find out, but if anyone else has, please change this. Math-wes ( talk) 03:36, 14 July 2011 (UTC) reply

It refers to the shape of the data on a graph where the curve of that data falls below its starting point and then rises to be higher than the starting point; making it vaguely j-shaped. I.E There is a moderate risk without alcohol, a reduced risk with a light or moderate consumption of alcohol and a high risk with heavy alcohol consumption.
