- At this point, more references on his life and career. For example, on the international efforts to get the family released. Less importantly, it would be nice to have the original Romanian for the accusation of treason, and the original French (I presume) for the memorial statement with the publication of the posthumous article.

- The "Institute for Specialization and Perfecting of Physicians" and the Medical Faculty of Bucharest need to be identified. I couldn't reliably pick them (or their successors) from the choice avalable in Template:UniversitiesinRomania. I linked University Hospital of Timisoara to Victor Babeș University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Timișoara on the basis of that article including University Hospital in its external links. Erica Blatt Harkins Many apologies for responding so late to your very kind message. By mistake I misread a line and thought that somebody else sent me your message and I was going through an exercise in futility trying to explain sources. Sometimes it is hard but I understand all the reasons. I again have a few questions: 1. You mentioned that it would be nice to have the original of the Romanian article from The Revista Sttintelor Medicale (The Review of Medical Sciences): written about Blatt's Journal of Ophthalmology. I have it in my possession. In the previous version of the bio I translated a large section of it and inserted it as a quotation. It is not there anymore. Should I insert instead the same text in the bio in Romanian? Should I scan the text into the computer, or how do you suggest that I should proceed? 2. Regarding the French text that I also translated and you mentioned that it would help to have the original, I noticed a while ago that it figures in the bio under reference #12, 11. Is that enough for that or should I proceed otherwise? I do have the original. 3. A whole list of Blatt's papers that originally I listed at the end of the text disappeared; but again earlier I noticed that under "External Links" when I click on that, it takes me to a list of 35 papers written and published by Blatt. Somebody did that for me and I think it was you I am grateful. Are those enough or should I translate some from German? (I am fluent in German). Should I add in the introduction of the bio, that Blatt wrote numerous papers? 4. Another reference could be certain articles from "The British Journal Journal of Ophthalmology" in which actually an American ophthalmologist called Gifford talks about Blatt's interesting work in the beginning of his career. Also the British Journal of Ophthalmology published several papers written by Blatt. All these articles are on Google: One is in the edition of August 1936 (important) #8, page 490-" Cercetari si studii de Ophthalmologie (Research and studies in Ophthalmology), Apparently the original can be found in "the Army Medical Library" in London. There are others published in October 18, 1948 #10 under "Notes ?" on pages 792-791. The last in the British Journal of Ophthalmology was published postmortem in 1965, #168. It was published in german - "Intraocular Knock Bildungen (Intraocular Ossification). Should these be entered as references or links. I must admit that I am not sure how to do it and I am afraid even though I read and you mentioned it before. Could you please explain? 5. In June 1994, a revived Romanian Newspaper called "Curierul Romines" published in its 6th year, #6, page 23, an article about Blatt, in which they have excerpts fromI "Romanian Review of Medical Sciences (1949), in which Blatt was accused of being a traitor to his country. I could not find it on line. but the original is in my possession. Should it go under references? 6. I have in my possession an original letter from Queen Helen to Blatt; Should I take a photograph of it and insert it in the text. 7. In regards to the efforts made by the international ophthalmologic community to help Blatt in leaving Romania, most of the people are dead, but i could procure a letter from a member of the family of his sister in law, a person who was very involved in the action, and who could explain, how everything happened. In 1966, the New York Times Review had an entire article, explaining in general how Romanians could eventually leave their country if they had family abroad who wanted to pay for their freedom. The price depended on the importance of the individual. 8. The Romanian Medical University, was and is called "Carol Davila"; It is on line should I use it as a reference? 9> Also please mention to me if I need further elimination from the text of words that could sound flattering? 10. At this point can I start inserting pictures, and if so should i insert them in WikuMedia or can I insert them directly into the text?

- @ Erica Blatt Harkins: I'm responding to some of this here rather than at my own talk page. And here's a ping for Bazj.
- We could use any of those references where people write about his work and publications. Please give the following information for each one: author name or names, journal title (in the original language), volume number, issue number if you have it, date (at least year), article title, and pages the article is on. The URL of an online version - or an online abstract, which is all there is for some journals - is helpful but not necessary, so yes, please give the Google URL if you have it (and in case you are working with a college library, if you have a jstor or doi number, include it please.) You can list these here on the article talk page or put them in the article as references. To do the latter, type the information between a <ref> tag and a </ref> tag at the end of the sentence or sentence section that the reference supports. The article is using citation templates; don't worry, someone else can convert the raw data into that format (and possibly find an online version if you could not). If that's too complicated, just list that information here for each one.
- Don't ask people for letters; since we are an encyclopedia, private communications are a type of reference we avoid. But yes, newspaper articles would be useful. The same kind of full information, please, including the accurate title in the original language. Since newspaper articles are unlikely to be online, it would be very helpful if you would type out relevant short quotations from these. Adding a translation is helpful, but the original wording enables multilingual Wikipedians to search further and to tweak the translation for accuracy :-) In the same vein, yes please, could you add the original wording for the quotations you previously translated that are in the article? Here would be fine.
- I'm not sure about the letter from the queen. Perhaps Bazj or someone else has a thought.
- Yes, the list of his published papers was removed and replaced by a link to an online list. However, one of the weak points of the article at present is that the introduction lists scientific contributions he made, and the article doesn't at present substantiate those. I'm hoping the citations you mention will enable us to fill that gap, and that may lead us to list a few of his papers that those sources say were particularly significant in the field. That is the preferred way to deal with a prolifically published academic here: to list only selected works that have been mentioned in reliable sources as particularly important, but to link to a complete bibliography.

Thank you for your continuous kind and patient guiding. I was silent for a few days because I had to clear my mind, and I am also preparing for the opening of my classes at the end of January. But I am back. I probably will answer with 2 or 3 different messages. Here are some info that can be used as references. I am listing them here. I found the DOI number for the article about my father in The American Journal of Ophthalmology. The article is mentioned in the Reference section but without any details. The article is entitled "A Rumanian Eye Journal". Its DOI number on line is:http//dx.doi.org/10.1016/0002-9394(49)90886-7. It is The American Journal of Ophthalmology of April 1949; Volume 32, Series 3, Number 4, pages 594 to 595. The name of the author is "Crisp". As I said I Have the original in front of me. It talks about "Rumania, about "the Revista de Ophthalmologie" and about Nicholas Blatt. I could not open it on line, but here are some excerpt from the article as published in english: "Rumania is an especially interesting illustration of competing of competing influences with a language distinctively Roman in structure although Slavic in vocabulary….Prominent in ophthalmology for very many years has been Nicholas Blatt active in moves toward improved clinical resources and for control of blindness. From time to time Blatt's contributions to the literature of ophthalmology reach the United States. It is on line, I looked at it, but again I am incapable to connect it as reference. I could not find the DOI number: Cercetari si Studii in Oftalmologie. By NICHOLAS BLATT. Bucharest. 1935. "This handsome volume of 377 pages is in the Roumanian tongue and we do not claim to be able to read this. Dr. Sanford R. Gifford, of Chicago, provides a foreword in which he emphasises the import- ance of Dr. Blatt's work as "an ophthalmologist practising in a relatively small town, far removed from the facilities and contacts of a university clinic," and Dr. Riconte, of Bucharest, has kindly sent us apr6cis of the contents. The book is very well printedand illustrated, and each chapter besides giving free play to the author's personal views is provided with liberal documentation of those of others. The author has done much experimental work on ocular trans- plantation and gives here his results. Other chapters cover the whole field of ophthalmology and his chapter on the modern treatment of retinal detachment shows that he is ……."Italic text

This appears on line but it does not tell me the volume or issue. Here is what it tells: British Journal of Ophthalmology ,Title: "La Prophylaxie de la Cecite en Roumanie" (Prevention of Blindness in Roumania, by Nicholas Blatt), pp. 53, Bucharest. Published by the International Association for the Prevention of Blindness. 1937. "The population of Roumania is approximately 19 millions and it is estimated that 072 per1,000 are blind. Ananalysis of causes of blindness shows a high proportion of ophthalmia neonatorum, while syphilitic optic atrophy is a common. Interesting difference from conditions in this country are brought out by the inclusion of typhus,leprosy and pellagran------

Here is the original French writing in French for reference #12 by L. Guillaumat, written as an announcement to Blatt's death. The announcement was written in the form of an introduction to an article written by Blatt in French and entitled in French: "Le problem de la fixation excentrique dans l'amblyopie strabique". It was published in Archives d'Ophtalmologie, in 1966, t.26, nr. 2, page 113 to 136. I can not find it on line. 'Le professeur Blatt auteur de cet article, est mort a Francfort le 10 Avril, 1965. Qu'il nous soit permis de saluer ici sa mémoire en évoquant sa carrière. Ne en 1890, médecin en 1913, il acheva en 1920 sa spécialisation en ophtalmologie par des séjours en Allemagne, en Boheme, en Suisse, et aux Pays-Bas. Revenu en Roumanie, il obtient en 1946 une chaire de Professeur a Timisoara. Ses publications très étendues couvrent a peu près tous les chapitres de l'Ophtalmologie. Sa culture française lui permettait de rédiger dans notre langue de nombreux articles que nos lecteur ont été a meme de gouter. Il venait a peine de quitter la Roumanie quand il a succombe a Francfort ou l'université avait mis une chaire et un laboratoire a sa disposition."

I randomly ran across this article via Category:Orphaned articles from January 2015. It seems to be some memorial to a family member and I can't easily assess if the subject is notable. Are there any profiles articles sources *just* on him? A major newspaper obituary? Please help me understand why this should not be nominated for deletion. - Source 5, "Professor Dr. Nikolaus Blatt zum Gedächtnis". Klinische Monatsblätter fur Augenheilkunde, from April 1965, is an obituary, and is thus solely about him. Also, comparing to the notability criteria for academics, he seems to easily pass them (started a major journal, was appointed to the court, several monographies, etc.). He is also mentioned in Ophtamologist's directories, see Source 18. Here is the original French writing in French for reference #12 by L. Guillaumat, written as an announcement to Blatt's death. The announcement was written in the form of an introduction to an article written by Blatt in French and entitled in French: "Le problem de la fixation excentrique dans l'amblyopie strabique". It was published in Archives d'Ophtalmologie, in 1966, t.26, nr. 2, page 113 to 136. I can not find it on line. 'Le professeur Blatt auteur de cet article, est mort a Francfort le 10 Avril, 1965. Qu'il nous soit permis de saluer ici sa mémoire en évoquant sa carrière. Ne en 1890, médecin en 1913, il acheva en 1920 sa spécialisation en ophtalmologie par des séjours en Allemagne, en Boheme, en Suisse, et aux Pays-Bas. Revenu en Roumanie, il obtient en 1946 une chaire de Professeur a Timisoara. Ses publications très étendues couvrent a peu près tous les chapitres de l'Ophtalmologie. Sa culture française lui permettait de rédiger dans notre langue de nombreux articles que nos lecteur ont été a meme de gouter. Il venait a peine de quitter la Roumanie quand il a succombe a Francfort ou l'université avait mis une chaire et un laboratoire a sa disposition."

I randomly ran across this article via Category:Orphaned articles from January 2015. It seems to be some memorial to a family member and I can't easily assess if the subject is notable. Are there any profiles articles sources *just* on him? A major newspaper obituary? Please help me understand why this should not be nominated for deletion. - Source 5, "Professor Dr. Nikolaus Blatt zum Gedächtnis". Klinische Monatsblätter fur Augenheilkunde, from April 1965, is an obituary, and is thus solely about him. Also, comparing to the notability criteria for academics, he seems to easily pass them (started a major journal, was appointed to the court, several monographies, etc.). He is also mentioned in Ophtamologist's directories, see Source 18.
