- Balarama was the seventh child of Devaki and Vasudeva but was not born to Devaki. When Rohini, one of the other wives of Vasudeva comes to meet them in prison, she requests for the foetus of the seventh child to be transferred to her womb. By this the seventh child Balrama is born to Rohini instead of Devaki. The goddess Mahamaya born to Nandrai is switched in place of Lord Krishna, the eigth child when he is secretly brought to Gokul by his father as soon as he is born. The words uttered by the Goddess(Maya) are, I am not the one you want to kill.
