I think that there should be an article devoted especially to Poland in 2000-present.

Nothing special happened in year 2000, which would make year 1999 much different than 2001 in Poland.. Actually such division would make sense as regarding the years from 2004 (joining the EU). If this article is meant to be about the contemporary history of Poland then the map displayed at the top should be a map of contemporary Poland instead of map from 1757. This map shows up on thumbnails in other articles that refer to Poland's name and gives the readers wrong idea on the location and shape of the country. Particularly important right now, during the Ukraine-Russian war because the territory of Poland used to extend more to the East into what is now Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania. The history needs expansion. Some points that are missing:

• 1.Rising unemployment after pro-Western government was introduced, up to 20%
• 2.Rising suicide rate after changes of 89
• 3.Record level of crime in 90s and rapid rise of homicide and robberies.
• 4.Collapse of Polish industry after 89
• 5.Rise of Polish emigration to the West to become cheap labour in Western countries.
• 6.Diminishing social mobility.
• 7.Increasing wealth gap between the top percent of rich in Poland and majority of poor.

The above issues dominate Polish history from 89 and seem barely touched upon.-- MyMoloboaccount ( talk) 14:13, 15 February 2015 (UTC) reply

I don't really understand how relevant the two paragraphs are to discussing the History of Poland. When comparing it with the previous section, it seems highly biased, but that's just my first-glance opinion. No mention of the Constitutional Crisis (which is pretty major), just some trivial facts about what Duda and the Polish government did? This needs to be either deleted or re-written. Google NGrams confirm that whilst the term "Third Polish Republic" has recently come to be used to refer to the present constitution, it was used by some writers in previous decades to refer to the People's Republic. 5.80.55.112 ( talk) 18:19, 11 May 2018 (UTC) reply

I could be mistaken. From Brittanica, it mentions that after Gorby came to power in 85, his glasnost and perestroika started a process that eventually led to the collapse of communism in eastern Europe and the disintegration of the U.S.S.R. The Jaruzelski regime realized they had to reform, and that Solidarity was too popular to ignore. So there was a “negotiated revolution”, Solidarity was restored and participated in partly free elections in June 1989 that brought it a sweeping victory. In '89, it was still technically a Communist government. Hence the Commies were voted out, right? Why not just say that then, to help summarize? [On the other hand, Googling for the phrase "Communism was voted out of poland" only gets a single result!] :) So maybe I'm not getting something here. Its weird- even if they weren't voted out, I would have expected Google to find lots of results with that phrase. (Eg people being mistaken about it.) Similarily, articles History of Poland (1918-1939), History of Poland (1939-1945), History of Poland (1945-1989) etc. should be moved into articles named: Poland in the Interwar period, Poland in WW2, Poland in the Cold War etc. or perhaps one big "Poland in the 20th century" article should be created along with one for the Third Polish Republic, describing the current regime, how it formed etc. See: France in the 20th century
