I think this is a great article for those of you all in the industry. However, for those of us whose MyNetwork affiliate, for example, will be carried on a "subchannel", this really doesn't clear up anything. I reckon that what's written can stay there. However, a whole other section probably needs to be added to explain "subchannel" for those of us just trying to find something good on TV next Monday night. -- Coryma 21:39, 17 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Both PBS systems in my area definately still broadcast 1 SD channel at night at the same time they broadcast HD programming. You can go to www.titantv.com and for zip 21801 look at both WDPB 12.1 & 12.2 and WCPB 28.1 & 28.2 Bwave 02:29, 28 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Digital systems

Is this native to ATSC only, or do ISDB/ SBTVD, DVB-T, and DMB-T use this as well? RingtailedFoxTalkContribs 21:41, 10 April 2009 (UTC) reply

It's ATSC only, DVB-T and other systems support multiplexing natively, so this is not needed, whatever it is. The article is indeed confusing and it looks like it's based on north americang marketing jargon (I guess). Useful parts should be merged to multiplexing and the rest should be deleted.-- 90.179.235.249 ( talk) 11:37, 22 July 2011 (UTC) reply

The El Salvador section is a copy paste of the US section's first, 4th, 5th paragraphs and the following line about mobile broadcasting. 96.3.139.41 ( talk) 00:02, 17 October 2011 (UTC) reply

Obtrusive commercials

You really need to get rid of these obtrusive, intrusive annoying medicade and car shield commercials. They come into our homes (unwanted), annoying the crap out of us. The medicare commercials scream at us with your annoying idiot J.J. Walker and Joe Namath, etc. What they say and offer are lies with no guarantee that your eligible for anything. All they do is put your private information up for grabs to anyone. The Carshield commercials practically do the same, telling you with such positive negative statements, that your car is "going" to break down. Kind of like a curse. These commercials, amongst others ruin the shows that we are watching. They are so annoying and disturbing that the channel has to be changed, hoping that these commercials are over by the time you get back to the show you were watching, only to find that their on the channel that you just switched to, also. By the time you get back to the show you were watching, you've missed the scene you were just waiting to see.

Maybe you people need a hot poker up your asses. Because that's what your doing to us, with these commercials.

Split proposed

I think with diginets becoming more and more prominent--and in many cases being available as streaming linear channels--I think we should split this section off into its own section. Thoughts? Jgera5 ( talk) 14:21, 18 September 2022 (UTC) reply

The article needs a top-to-bottom rewrite, and this is something I would support as part of it. It's bad. Sammi Brie (she/her •  tc) 16:10, 20 September 2022 (UTC) reply
I agree. I also think that Multiplex (television) should also get some form of improvement. Danubeball ( talk) 23:08, 14 December 2022 (UTC) reply
@ Jgera5 @ Danubeball I just started Digital multicast television network. The rest of this article is a dated, sludgy mess that needs a substantial overhaul. Sammi Brie (she/her •  tc) 08:03, 24 January 2023 (UTC) reply
