The link with text "Exeter Panel Signal Box" was pointing to Westbury railway station, which (unsurprisingly) doesn't tell me anything about the Exeter box. The text formerly said "Westbury Panel Signal Box", which makes sense with the link but was changed by an anon in this edit. Now, I don't know the history of the signalling but the piped link obviously made no sense, so I've turned it into a red link for the moment. I presume it should either say "Westbury", or be pointed to Exeter St Davids railway station, though that doesn't say much more about the Exeter signal box than the Westbury article does. -- rbrwr ± 09:54, 28 May 2011 (UTC) reply

Current works

I was going to add a bit on the current works. I'll paste a draft below. I'm not happy with the big tweet box which messes with the format and rather loses the ref but I think it's worth including somehow as the video includes a mention that Cogload is categorized as a 'Golden Asset'.

In November 2019, lines through the junction were closed for six days to allow for the replacement of the track and points. [1] Network Rail posted a video of the work on its Twitter account stating that the replacement was prioritised as the junction is a 'Golden Asset' where problems would have a major impact on the operation of the network.

Does a routine, albeit lengthy, track renewal justify an entry? I don't think there is any significant change to the layout as a result. Let's see, there are closures planned in the south west this winter for the Tarka Line, Looe Valley, Exeter St Davids ...
If you really want to include that video (it doesn't show much of interest) then you could include it as an external link at the bottom of the article:

It's probably marginal but it does give some idea how long these things last - 30 odd years since the remodelling? - and the importance NR attaches to the asset. Cavrdg ( talk) 08:32, 14 November 2019 (UTC) reply

The 1980s remodelling was because the route towards tau ton was reduced from four tracks to two. There has been no remodeling in 2019 - just a like-for-like renewal; I doubt that the track just removed were thirty years old. Geof Sheppard ( talk) 13:43, 15 November 2019 (UTC) reply
