Assuming this first sentence shouldn't have a not in it? Have taken it out for now. Alport (1927) only states that Dickinson described familial proteinuria. Reading Dickinson’s original text [1] confirms that this may have been the first account of familial nephropathy, but that the patients he described did not have characteristic features of Alport syndrome.
