GA review comments

  • First sentence is POV. "The 1990 New York Giants season was one of the most successful seasons in the professional American football franchise's history" Lots of SB winners were 13-3 and better. The sentence needs re-wording
    • Yes Chen is correct it says the it was one of the most successful seasons in team history, as they started 10–0 and won a championship this should be fine. Quadzilla99 20:56, 29 May 2007 (UTC) reply
      • No issues. potential POV during FA review. But i guess we can cross that step when it comes. Kalyan 19:40, 30 May 2007 (UTC) reply
  • "...before losing a rematch to Philadelphia in week 12. " - add the score.
  • "The Giants defense led the NFL in fewest points allowed," - how many points?
  • Suggestion - in the table summarizing season, can you diff the games won and games lost by changing the row bgcolor
    • I kind of like it the way it is, I think its clear. I hope this will not be a deal breaker. Quadzilla99 23:54, 29 May 2007 (UTC) reply
      • Nope. there are no 'deal-breakers' here. BTW., i did indicate it was just a suggestion. Kalyan 19:40, 30 May 2007 (UTC) reply
  • "Despite sitting out training camp and the preseason in a contract dispute" - provide reference (check LT's article - i remember seeing some links there)
    • The reference is at the end of the sentence. Incidentally, it's cool you read the LT article I'm the main author of that one too. Quadzilla99 20:56, 29 May 2007 (UTC) reply
      • Now i remember where i had seen your user id. i had used a template in the talk page on one of the pages of my primary interest - Tirumala Venkateswara Temple to indicate that i could be contacted for any queries on the topic.
  • Week titles: can you use "vs" for home games and "at" for away games
  • Week 11: Vs Detroit Lions - the boxscore shows Giants v/s Vikings and worse still, it shows that the Giants lost 20-0
    •  Done Someone fixed that already, thanks whoever you are! Quadzilla99 20:56, 29 May 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Suggestion: Looking at numerous boxscores is confusing. can you please add row bgcolor for the team that won the game
  • Required: Roster of the team for the season and List of coaches.
    • I added them but I don't have the quarterbacks coach or the secondary coach yet. Hope this isn't a deal breaker I was lucky to find the staff that I did. Quadzilla99 23:54, 29 May 2007 (UTC) reply
      • Nope. Not for GA. In fact, i doubt if it will be an issue for FA. Kalyan 19:40, 30 May 2007 (UTC) reply

The article is well written and once these comments are addressed, the article can be given GA and the article can also be nominated for FA. Kalyan 16:38, 29 May 2007 (UTC) reply

      • moving the article to GA. Do you want to nominate it for FA? If so, please add a couple of images from that season and then, we are good to go for FAC. Also, can you please implement these same changes for 1986 New York Giants season and i can review it for GA. Kalyan 19:40, 30 May 2007 (UTC) reply
    • Regarding the first sentence, I thought the success alluded to was that of the Giants? Chensiyuan 16:46, 29 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Fair use rationale for File:1990Giants.jpg

File:1990Giants.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

GA reassessment

I'm going to keep this as a GA after review. However, refs #1 and 51 are dead links, and I'd prefer that the cite templates are used. However, format-wise they look fine, so I'm not going to push it, though I do think it should be done. Wizardman 02:37, 5 June 2009 (UTC) reply

Tim Mara

The wikilink leads to the elder Tim Mara, who was dead forty years before this Super Bowl. I'm having trouble locating the link for the younger Tim Mara, who I believe was Wellington's nephew, and the one who sold the team to Bob Tisch. If I remember correctly, Wellington and the younger Tim were not on speaking terms. Kjscotte34 ( talk) 15:00, 21 August 2011 (UTC) reply
