Can we split this by having a separate page, one for the names (Zero) and one for things referred to by numerals (0)? Each would have a see also to the other. DJ Clayworth 16:52, 3 March 2006 (UTC) reply

Its entry in 0 is A6M Zero. — Joe Kress 03:09, 16 June 2006 (UTC) reply

I think there should definitely separate pages: one for mathematics, one for the names, and possibly one for the plane. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.197.238.152 ( talkcontribs).

All blue links on this disambiguation page (the names) lead to separate pages. The main mathematics link is 0 (number). The plane is A6M Zero. — Joe Kress 06:39, 28 September 2006 (UTC) reply

I created " Zero" on

in the idea of a separate page for names. - Eruption257

What the page is for

0 is a page with a single purpose, which reflects the fact that "0" might be the first-choice title for a number of articles, except for the fact that none of them is the sole "contender" for that name.
That purpose is to help users looking for one of those articles to find the one they have in mind, by providing the actual names, each with any further information necessary to their recognizing that it is the title of the article they had in mind. But if "0" would not be a good title for the article (even if there were no other contenders), it doesn't belong on the accompanying Dab page (anywhere above the "See also" heading).
Beyond that purpose, it is usually harmless to help users who are there by mistake. For instance, a user who heard (not read) the name of a plane, and couldn't tell if it was written

0

or

zero

or

Zero

can harmlessly be assisted by a lk under the heading "See also", to Zero (disambiguation), the page that serves the same purpose for articles that could (except for all the other contenders) have been titled Zero.
In contrast, all of the following (some of which may need to be added to other Dab pages) are examples of articles that should not have appeared on the accompanying Dab page:

0 as year

I included an entry for 0, representing the year zero for a very specific reason: WP has the convention that a positive integer number as an article title represents the topic of the corresponding year of the Common Era. Thus anyone suspecting that there might be a (Western) year 0 could with a high degree of logic look at 0. (But the same logic would not justify looking there for the year zero of other calendar systems that use a year zero: WP would never use bare numbers corresponding to those systems' years as the corresponding article names.)

0 should redirect to 0 (year)-- Spitfire ( talk) 01:42, 25 September 2008 (UTC) reply
