Just want to check on this sentence: Research on speakers currently residing in the North Korean homeland is rare, and conducted primarily by Chinese researchers of Korean ethnicity. attributed to Kim 2013, which I don't have access to. Have even Chinese researchers had access to North Korea? The Chinese research I'm aware of (e.g. Zhao & Xuan 1986, Piao 2019) has been done in Korean-speaking parts of China.
