Xawery vs Ksawery

I have found a couple of references but the name of the near admiral murdered at Katyn was Ksawery Stanisław Czernicki. My understanding they are both Polish names. Can anyone explain this? Jniech ( talk) 22:04, 14 December 2008 (UTC) reply
