The "history" section here needs help. In 1993, the concept of server/client paved the way for almost all online games as we know them today - a server capable of tracking more than two player's activities. All "gamers" playing games today owe a lot to that single (very novel, at that time) innovation. Here's an ancient ACM write-up for it: http://www.acm.org/crossroads/xrds3-2/xpilot.html. -- Connel MacKenzie - wikt 17:55, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
xconq is a turn based game. I don't know xtank. The innovation was, Bert Gÿsbers (who's not mentioned in the article), in 1993 converted the game from a single-server/multi-screen game to a true client/server using UDP as a pseudo real-time transport including reliable and unreliable data over a UDP stream, which is very fast. *That* is what all modern games use.
The Windows port was done in 1997, when my old DG finally kicked the bit bucket. :) Dickbalaska ( talk) 07:22, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
What is XPilot-AI? A new version of XPilot? There is a 5.0.1a1 version of XPilot 5. I don't know if it is the most recent version (I think there is at least a 5.0.1a3) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.35.65.21 ( talk) 18:32, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Add info about the iphone port [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.112.159.47 ( talk) 20:08, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
I guess if you have never heard of xpilot before and have no idea about it, this article is pretty confusing. I got that its a multiplayer game of some description that employs maps. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.16.100.144 ( talk) 09:59, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
