here and here are the russian and Persian text of Turkmenchay treaty. As it can be seen, there is nothing in the name of Azerbaijan devision. Aliwiki ( talk) 17:57, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
To Aliwiki: It is obvious that no country approves the independence of a territory which the country considers its own. The texts you posted state Azerbaijan and Georgia as territories which belong to the empires. However, it does not mean that there never existed Azerbaijan or Georgia. Secondly, this article is not about historical facts, but it is about the term widely used in the Republic of Azerbaijan and in the mostly Azerbaijani populated modern northern Iran. -- Kheo17 ( talk) 21:04, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Please see History of the name Azerbaijan. The today so called Republic of Azerbaijan was never called by this name before soviet union era, and for political reasons, this name was given to this land. Let's imagine that now president of China, for political reasons, is changing the name of a province near the India's boundry and gives the nam eof India to this province;Next year, a revolution in China will cause this country to be seperated to several indipendant states, including this small republic of India; At this time, can I write an article in the name of whole India starting with "Whole India is an irredentist Indian concept that propagates the political union of territories currently inhabited by Azerbaijanis or historically controlled by them. In the text of Turkmenchay treaty, there is nothing about division of Azerbaijan. If you don't know Persian or Russian, I suggest to use google translate and read the text of treaty. -- Aliwiki ( talk) 16:30, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
Judging from the map it looks like there are territorial claims in Turkey as well, how come it's not included in the article? -- George Spurlin ( talk) 09:37, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
Looking deeper in the history of this article, it becomes aparrent there is slow edit war going between User:Parishan and User:Qahramani44 one one side and with User:Cengizsogutlu on the other side. 1, 2, 3, 4.
Edit warring is disruptive to Wikipedia. Why don't you all ask for peaceful options like Third opinion, Requests for comment or Dispute resolution noticeboard instead?. Cheers --Armatura ( talk) 13:39, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
