Barometric Pressure?

Just saw a piece on TV about it being caused by rolling disturbance radiating out from a high-pressure area for tens of miles. Suspicious as to the validity of this and question whether it isn't rather a low-pressure that causes it as in most storms. Has the barometric pressure ever been cited during a white squall?
