One tip for creating new articles is to ensure that there are sufficient sources. A cool tool is {{ Find sources}}. For instance for this article, it would be {{Find sources|Wendy Maruyama}} which produces

One thing that I'm noticing, though, is that about half of the sources are from organizations / schools (SDSU, other schools, furnsoc.org) that she's affiliated with.
