A minor point but Waxey Gordon is described as having come from a Polish Jewish family. The family was Romanian Jewish, originating I believe in Vaslui (I don't know if that was Vaslui City or Vaslui Province, a bit west of Jassi. He was my grandmother mother's cousin (a sonofabitch who should have died when young).
