Because all the references use Wandammen for the peninsula and the mountains. The language is often called Wandamen, but this article isn't about the language.

In anycase Wandamen and Wondama is often used for the name of the bay, Wondiwoi or Wondiboi is often used for the name of the Peninsula and the mountains. See in this
official page or
the Bupati speaking.
