This needs to be merged into film editing. Please comment there. — Quarl ( talk) 2006-01-14 07:18 Z
Could add link to EDLs (edit decision lists). Not sure how to do this. Glennchan 17:12, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
why does it say "What are you looking at? Nothing..." at the bottom of this page?

I placed a cleanup tag on this article, because I don't think it suitably covers the topic. It briefly discusses the subject's history, but mainly discusses the types of software available to video editors. There is nothing about technique, the art, or the technology (and technological aspects, formats, standards, etc.) involved. If this is to be a separate article from film editing, then we should expand it to encompass the practice as a whole. Also, the article begins with "The term video editing can refer to." It should begin with an overall summary of the topic, and move through the history of the medium. It can have a separate sections about linear editing (which came first in the history of the practice), then non-linear editing. In fact, these could be their own articles, and this page could be an overall summary and history of both forms, with a disambiguation page at the top. -Fogelmatrix 15:51, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
This article has a picture of a video switcher or vision mixer as it is known in the UK. It is not a video editor in any sense. Perhaps a picture of a CMX editing keyboard, or something similar - although dedicated video editing controllers are disappearing as they are replaced by personal computers. I believe these links lead to some possibly helpful material that could be included on the article. Please give your feedback: https://www.mediacollege.com/video/editing/tutorial/definition.html http://www.sheffieldav.com/production/importance-video-editing https://computer.howstuffworks.com/video-editing.htm Mainly, I'd like to add more information about how video editing is used nowadays, with sites such as YouTube and Instagram being so popular. I also think that the introductory paragraph could be a bit more thorough. Beck1212 ( talk) 19:47, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
I think this article would benefit from some more examples in the applications section and added information in the lead. If anyone wants to add those, be my guest. Beck1212 ( talk) 20:14, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
I think this article needs more on the applications used for video editing in the real world. This will help the reader know how it is used. Btsailfish ( talk) 23:40, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

In the second sentence of this article: "To showcase perfect video editing to the public, video editors must be resonable and ensure they have a superior understanding of film, television, and other sorts of videography." the word "reasonable" is misspelled as "resonable" and should be changed to the correct spelling.
