about a band named Valencia

Valenica was definitely noted as Band of the Year by Spin Magazine. I would consider that to be significant. [1]

The band Valencia has been deleted recently, and keeps being deleted when there is no need to. Valencia is a real band, from Philadelphia, evidence being their myspace page. Removing their name from this article discourages the creation of their own page.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.72.106.54 ( talkcontribs)

The band page was deleted as being non-notable. Any further recreation will also be deleted accordingly. It is not about whether the band is real or not. -- Asterion talk 15:51, 23 September 2006 (UTC) reply

How can you define that it is not-notable? They have been featured in Spin Magazine, have sold many records, surely that is justification enough.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.72.106.54 ( talkcontribs)

Non-notable for bands, singers, rappers, DJs, crooners, torch singers, oboists, barber-shop quartets, and the like is defined on WP:MUSIC and, in addition to meeting those criteria, the corresponding article has to assert that they are met. We can't have an article for every bunch of mates who like to jam together. Bolivian Unicyclist 16:25, 23 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Disambiguation,. why?

Surely this should go straight to 'Valencia, Spain'. All others are insignificant. Just because there are some cretinous Americans who think that Valencia, New Mexico is the only Valencia in the world doesn't mean that en encyclopaedia should go along with these simpletons. None of the other entities have significant populations or history (except for Nueva Valencia del Rey, Venezuala but that should be refered to by its long name). The others on the lists (sports clubs, music, etc.) are not confused with the city. Too frequently Americans seem to dictate the rules on Wikipedia (see for example "Georgia" where Americans seem to think that a state should take priority over a country with a long history, culture and language).-- Xania talk 15:31, 3 May 2009 (UTC) reply
