The article was (and still remains a bit) too focused on the use of the technique on the Messel fossils as though this was a) the context in which the technique was devised; b) virtually the only place it is used today or in the past. These implications are both false, so I've edited the introductory parts to reflect the more general applicability of the technique. I've also added the reference to Toombs and Rixon which considerably pre-dates the article's original timeline for the origin of this technique in the 1970s. This is indeed where it was perfected for use in Messel fossils, but the technique of transferring a fossil to resin is considerably older. The rest of the article should be re-worked to reflect the general use of the technique, and then go into specifics such as its use at Messel. The Braz ( talk) 19:10, 21 November 2011 (UTC) reply
Please go ahead. I only know this for the Messel site. Petter Bøckman ( talk) 19:29, 21 November 2011 (UTC) reply

Sorry, that wasn't intented to be directed precisely at you! At any rate, yes, I'll eventually edit this to make it all fit together. The Braz ( talk) 21:09, 24 November 2011 (UTC) reply

Fossil preparation

Seems this would make more sense as part of a wider article about fossil preparation. FunkMonk ( talk) 05:28, 30 January 2016 (UTC) reply
