@ Trigenibinion:,
Looks like we need to discuss this. Drum brakes and disc brakes are both quite safe. Drum brakes can be made massively strong (by making them wider) but suffer from brake fade due to heat dissipation (the best drum brakes have finned covers). Disc brakes have much better heat dissipation but are size limited within the diameter of the wheel (drums can be made bigger sideways). Drums also have a self-servo action, so do not need the brake booster (and potential vacuum leaks and other problems). Saying either one is safer than the other is not valid because it depends on the circumstances. Race cars tend to favour disc brakes due to the fast moving air keeping them cool. Big trucks (Mack, Kenworth, etc) tend to favour the sheer stopping power of massive, massive brakes with the self-servo operation. You need a reference that explains why rear disc brakes make the HiLux safer. And we need to qualify whether any reference(s) about which models have them apply to all models worldwide or just certain models and/or markets.
PS: I'm not against a simple statement in the section where other options are listed saying that certain models or markets have disc rear brakes. It's the highlighting it in the safety section that I'm against. Stepho talk 07:09, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
There's currently a subsection on the vehicle's use by militant groups, but nothing about it in the lead. Would it be appropriate to add a line? {{u| Sdkb}} talk 19:27, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
