The article claims "In 2003, sixty million Tootsie Rolls and twenty million Tootsie Pops were produced every day." Doesn't that sound a bit high? 80 million candies per DAY. That's 29.2 BILLION candies per year, or about 5 for every single human on this earth. I certainly don't eat 5 per year, and I suspect the great majority of people in third world countries have eaten any. That means there would have to be people eating thousands of the things. Does anyone have some data to back that figure up? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.85.243.216 ( talk) 13:26, 19 November 2009 (UTC) i likef ried chiken —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.207.224.104 ( talk) 01:25, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
True the production numbers may be high and even a little inflated, there are people out there who eat more than 5 a year. I myself prbobly eat about 10 or 15 a year. Remember some people do eat alot of Tootsie products like children. They probobly eat about 40 or 50 a year. And remember the candies may either be unedible or just not sold. Im sure this number doesnt take into account the number of candies not fit for selling.

Removed this from rumors section because it sounds like vandalism , but since I've often noticed that there's nothing so stupid that someone won't believe it, I'm posting it here:

For the past few years, my class has done the experiment "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop" and no encounters have occurred. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.118.230.184 ( talk) 19:43, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
The result of the move request was: whatever it is I think I see becomes a Tootsie Pop as the result of this move discussion. Dekimasu よ! 23:13, 11 October 2014 (UTC)
Tootsie Pops → Tootsie Pop – Per WP:TITLEFORMAT, conventional article titles should be in the singular form. Erpert blah, blah, blah... 03:00, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
I'd never heard the lick question, and have never had one of these candies as far as I know, but http://sciencefriday.com/video/07/06/2015/the-lollipop-hypothesis.html says 1,000 (not 42) is the answer. Kdammers ( talk) 18:04, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
The Tootsie Pop page does not mention the flavor Root Beer, but I have found an advertisement from 1938 that includes the Root Beer flavor. It can be seen as page 46 of the scan at https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=64750 . That ad also gives the product name as Tootsie Filled Pops. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DonDMilne ( talk • contribs) 12:01, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
