i sincerely believe that this show, although scripted in a generally insane, excessively loony surrealistic style, is destined to become a classic. the best thing that's been on adult swim, in quite a while. it is definitely is not for children, mainly because of the plentiful gratuitous violence and (mostly suggestive and sometimes abstracted) sexual themes at play. also, it is rather negative and neurotic at times. again, it's great, in a twisted, sick-in-the-head kind of way. for me, it's a guilty pleasure. i'm hoping it gets greenlighted for further seasons by adult swim (cartoon network), and that the writers begin to explore more complicated storylines in the future (although what they've produced so far is definitely entertaining)...
one of the most hilarious moments, is (in S01 E04) when drinky and gabby get launched in a small submarine by captain maak toward another (french reptile enemy) ship in a heroic suicide mission. the enemy ship then launches scads of underwater missiles at them, which they try lurchily to evade, and gabby frantically tells drinky (at the submarine's captain's wheel) to 'push some of them buttons.' you have to see it... bravo to tony millionaire, eric kaplan, and mirari films (the labor-intensive animation is done by a team of thirty or so people in transylvania, by the way).
