I appreciate the desire for conformity with Wikipedia treatment of area studies (Korean Studies, not Korea Studies; Japanese Studies, not Japan Studies), but in this particular case, the field is called "Taiwan Studies" by the people in the field, and not "Taiwanese Studies." For example, check the links to Taiwan Studies centers and programs at the bottom of the page. There are various reasons for the use of "Taiwan Studies" rather than "Taiwanese Studies," but principal among these is political. "Taiwan" is the place; "Taiwanese" is the people, various defined. I think it would be better to return the title of this page to "Taiwan Studies" for both of these reasons. Rikyu ( talk) 01:46, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
Can someone with moderating powers please change the title from Taiwanese Studies to Taiwan Studies? There is a consensus for the change here on the talk page. The article itself uses Taiwan Studies in the text with Taiwanese Studies used only in the title. Davidreid ( talk) 00:31, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
The recent undiscussed controversial move to "Taiwanese studies" has been undone. In cases such as this when the move is not a simple spelling mistake or other obvious error, it should be submitted for discussion first. The discussion above, although not recent, should have made it clear that a move back to an earlier, non-consensus name by a single editor without discussion is not a good idea. If you wish to move this again, please follow the guidance at WP:RM#CM for controversial moves. Thanks, Mathglot ( talk) 05:55, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
