I am not certain but I understood that some of the hot keys defined in staroffice/starwriter have been carried over to general use in other editors/applications?
On what operating systems did SO originally run?
<rant> Sun is sooooo protective of the logo for StarOffice that there is not even one on their StarOffice product page. The only example of it is on their special logo page with a light grey "Sample" watermark across it (see [1]). To use the logo you have to submit an application where you that you will abide by the usage guidelines that are on at least three different pages! I'd try to scarf up a logo somewhere off of the internet, except that a quick Google image search suggests that nobody has jumped through all of the hoops to get the approval to use the logo. I could do what several other websites have done, which is to grab the photo of the product box from the StarOffice product page, but right now I'm so pissed at Sun for making it hard to use their logo, that I'd rather not. </rant> BlankVerse ∅ 13:41, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
Please add the names of the fonts and link them if they already have an article of their own (see List of typefaces).-- Hhielscher 14:57, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Does Star Office still include Adabas? It now includes the Base component, which I would imagine usurps the role (formerly) played by Adabas. Rwxrwxrwx 10:17, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Looks to me like they charge around $70 for this now...but doing a google search for "Free Staroffice" gives a link that allows you to download the same for free...i'm confused —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.22.83.195 ( talk • contribs)

Should something like this section be added to this page?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenOffice.org#StarOffice It mentions it builds off the OpenOffice code, but doesnt mention what the differences are between them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.68.101.187 ( talk • contribs)
Hello!
StarOffice is Sun Microsystems' proprietary office suite software package. It is based on the free software/ open-source OpenOffice.org, and contains some additional features.

Image:StarOffice Logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
IBM included StarOffice with OS/2 Warp 3.0, did they not? I'm almost certain I remember it being on a set of extra floppies called something like "Bonus Pak". 74.194.87.88 22:40, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
According to the article, StarOffice Math is no longer included in the StarOffice suite. This is not true. In StarOffice 8 (Product Update 9), one can click File>New>Formula to open StarOffice Math. Joshua Issac ( talk) 18:44, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
Why is this being mentioned in 'See Also'? Seems like an irrelevant plug that should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.69.130.6 ( talk) 07:54, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
The article implies that there is no thesaurus in OpenOffice.org (see Features -> Proprietary components -> 8th bullet point). My suggestion: "A different spell checker and thesaurus (note that OpenOffice.org includes a spell checker and thesaurus as well)" Doenster ( talk) 00:23, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

I have recherched for the CPC programme versions (Schneider). I did not find any reference to version "1.0", but the program is called "Star-Writer I" (Roman numeric I) in 1995. One year later there was the version "Star-Writer I 3.0" ( Manual 3.0 as scan at cpcszene.de) and the same year the version 3.1 ( screenshot at cpc-power.com). So there is a somewhat confusing version description, which has changed by the migration from CPC "Star-Writer I" to DOS version "StarWriter 3.2", but what was the correct name or version for Atari version(s)? Actually there ist a discussion to the Schneider versions on the disc-page on german Wiki article. Please help in the search for better and more sources. -- H7 ( talk) 11:10, 18 March 2017 (UTC)
