All information in this article is also contained in
sprat.
The German Wikipedia only has one article about sprats which is linked through wikidata to this article. This is formally probably correct.
Any German reader who fails to notice that there exists a second article
sprat will be disappointed by the lack of content in this article, though.
Merge - it seems that all sprats are in Sprattus and all members of Sprattus are called sprats. Possibly the merged article should be under the genus name as that is a natural disambiguator from the other uses of sprat. --

Sprat spends on the other fish that may be lumped under this name (The term also is applied to a number of other small sprat-like forage fish (Clupeoides, Clupeonella, Corica, Ehirava, Hyperlophus, Microthrissa, Nannothrissa, Platanichthys, Ramnogaster, Rhinosardinia, and Stolothrissa)., plus one table entry), this could well be handled in the actual genus article. --Elmidae (
