I'd suggest toning down the goals in the infobox. At the moment, the protests are disparate and not all of these goals are present in all protests. Thoughts? BobFromBrockley ( talk) 17:42, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
I have no like for dictatorships, whether the GAFAM sort that contribute to genocide by negligence or the Assad sort that directly commit crimes against humanity. But the adjective "regime" in the context of describing a government that "we" don't like is adding editorial opinion that is not acceptable in Wikipedia. It's clear enough that the protestors object to the government, and the human rights in Syria situation speaks for itself. See WP:WEASEL for why we can only use "regime" if e.g. it's to quote the words (if it's a valid translation) of protestors or of media. The Western mainstream media continue to publish, more or less, according to the empirically established propaganda model of their selection and presentation of reports (the model was proposed and compared to observations several decades ago) - but Wikipedia should hopefully not follow any of the five filters (to some extent, we're restricted by the "sourcing" - one of the five filters, but not as badly as the mainstream media, since we prefer peer-reviewed academic sources in the long-term, and since our sourcing is transparent). Due to the protests in Syrian government-held areas being concentrated in As-Suwayda. The other protests in government-held areas are very small. Also, there are media sources calling it just that. CatmanBw ( talk) 00:31, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

2023 Syrian protests â As-Suwayda Uprising (2023) â The focus of the media is the uprising in Syrian government-held areas, not the areas outside of Syrian government control. And the only major protest that is going on in Syrian government-held areas is the one is Suweida. The other protests in Syrian government-held areas are miniscule (dozens of people) as opposed to the 2000 people that are currently protesting in Suweida, In addition, the civil disobedience (shutting down of shops and Baath party government offices), is only happening in Suweida CatmanBw ( talk) 11:22, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
(Reuters, 1 September 2023)Dozens also gathered on Friday in the province of Daraa, where the 2011 protests kicked off. They carried the three-star flag emblematic of Syria's uprising, as well as signs criticising the role of Iran, a key Assad ally. Residents of other government-held parts of Syria - where restrictions are tighter - have made more discrete gestures of protest to avoid detection by government forces. In the coastal province of Tartus on Thursday, some residents held up small postcards reading "Syria belongs to us, not to the (ruling) Ba'ath party" [1]

shouldn't the words establishing a "democratic , secular and civil state in syria" be added to the goals? this has been iterated by the religious leaders sheikh al hajari and al hinnawi and several demonstrators more than once , with variations of some people using the words "rational" and "humanistic" too... 147.236.105.154 ( talk) 15:19, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
