According to the Wikipedia article on C. S. Lewis, Lewis had joined the army and became a famous member of this infantry. -- 69.67.234.99 02:58, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
This unit is listed as having participated in the ARW. What was its participation if any? BradMajors ( talk) 23:14, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
This article has an expansion request on the "Other notable members" section. is this still needed? if so what specifically is being requested? Could the mention of C.S. Lewis be incorporated into history removing this one sentence section?— Rod talk 22:22, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
The article said 10 btns raised for WW2 then lists 11!
In fact, 13 differently designated Btns existed during WW2:
The first 7 Btns were all in existence prior to war being declared (although, in the case of the 6th, seemingly only 10 days before), so, at most, only six were raised during the war - the 8th Btn was formed in 1939, but whether this was before war was declared or afterwards, I do not know.
The holding btns, which were formed in 1940, ceased to exist the same year. I strongly suspect that the 50th was redesignated as either the 9th or 10th btn - I have no direct evidence for this, but I do have references in respect of other war-formed holding btns that were redesignated in just this fashion - as for the 11th, it could have been redesignated, but my gut feeling says no. The 8th Btn was redesignated as the 30th Btn in 1941.
So, it is possible that the only btns really raised during the war were the 11th & 50th. Glevum ( talk) 01:02, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
