Just a commentary: It just blows my mind how misunderstood and misused are the terms "Roman" and "Byzantine". BOTH are ROMAN. Roman West are those lands west of the new Roman Capital left after Emperor Constantine moved the main capitol of the Empire to east to CONSTANTINOPLE. Which is refereed to as some separate entity as "Byzantium" ... western bias is intriguing !!! Thank you Micael ( talk) 17:02, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
