I'm really confused about the claim that Salcantay has the second largest prominence. Ausangate which is higher than Salcantay, in Vilcanota, is quite nearby and so, I would have guessed, would share the saddle with Salcantay. If this holds, it should also have a greater prominence. It would be nice if someone could check this.
BTW, I shot a picture shortly after takeoff from Cusco of a mountain that I'm quite sure is Salcantay. If it could be positively identified (it is certainly not Ausangate), and people think it is worthwhile, I'd be happy to GFDL it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kjetil ( talk • contribs) 20:18, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
It's strange that the INEI source (supposedly) claims that this is in the Vilcanota. All of the other sources agree that it is in the Vilcabamba. Perhaps INEI regards the Vilcabamba as a subunit of the Vilcanota? (My sources regard them as separate, with the Vilcabamba to the west of Cusco, and the Vilcanota to the east.) Or perhaps the source was quoted incorrectly? -- Spireguy 19:47, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks to all! Lots of great, quick attention to this article! Now if we can just get a picture... -- Spireguy 02:01, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
